  2. Quiet in here...

    Renault ZOE
    There’s some interesting stuff on the Facebook Zoe owners club group, including a lady who just got a letter from RCI to say she doesn’t own the battery in her Zoe... was news to her. Maybe everyone here is busy Christmas shopping or something. Ta.
  3. Zoe home charging

    General EV Discussion
    Hi, OK probably the best move would be to fit a mini consumer unit to run only the car charger, so it doesnt compound whatever the existing minor issue is. Random trips can be a pain - its keeping us safe of course but something is making it unhappy. Cheers.
  4. Which granny charger...

    General Charging Discussion
    It depends what you want to spend vs the flexibility you want. The cheapest option would be a 2nd hand type 2 granny charger that charges at 10A. That would work well, perhaps except where the family member's plug socket is a long way from the drive. Some granny chargers allow you to set the...
  5. What charging cards do I need ?

    General Charging Discussion
    One size does not fit all ! Yes you need different cards/apps. The government are slowly encouraging charge point operators to accept contactless credit/debit cards but its a slow process ! You usually just get the apps for the operators you need based on where you will travel. Cheers.
  6. Looking for 20m Type 1 -> Type 2 charging cable

    General Charging Discussion
    Hm ok, what about a type 1 extension so that the granny cable can be secured closer to the house, then just the extension is going towards the car? Would 5m type 1 extension work? https://evonestop.co.uk/collections/extension-cables/products/type-1-extension-cable-5-meter-16-32-amp Im sure...
  7. Looking for 20m Type 1 -> Type 2 charging cable

    General Charging Discussion
    Is it a 16A granny charger? If you leave the granny charger turned on then you just plug the car in when you get home - same as you would a charge point. Sounds like you have quite an interesting setup tho. Perhaps get a used charge point from ebay/facebook and ask an electrician to fit it...
  8. Looking for 20m Type 1 -> Type 2 charging cable

    General Charging Discussion
    OK if the installation of a home charge point is difficult, then consider fitting a commando socket and just getting a 16A granny charger, as that will charge as fast as the home charge point on your leaf and will probably be about the same price. All depends on your setup and whether you might...

  11. Vauxhall Ampera charging problem

    General Charging Discussion
    See if your local Hevra garage is familiar with the Ampera. https://www.hevra.org.uk/garages.html Hevra garages share knowledge and some garages are good with the Ampera - i've seen one in Kent post pictures of an Ampera repair and the was some serious taking apart required so they seemed to...

    General Charging Discussion
    Download zap map (or look on https://www.zap-map.com/live/), if you want rapid chargers then filter for "Chademo" which is the bigger charge socket on the leaf. Look on zap map at where you want to go, see who operates the chargers on that route. Many are different companies so you just sign...
  13. Car is losing miles too quickly?

    General EV Discussion
    More often than not its just the average miles per kwh from the last x miles, multiplied by the kwh left in the battery. Some cars take heater usage out of this calculation and then take off range from the result based on the current heater setting but most just do a simple calculation like...
  14. Car is losing miles too quickly?

    General EV Discussion
    The e-up is fairly range limited im afraid, though driving style (speed, etc) and use of the heater will affect this, as will temperature. A battery at -1 celcius doesnt perform as well as it does at 25 celcius. One the upside, well done for buying and EV and welcome!
  15. Reservable Charging Stations

    General Charging Discussion
    There is a big difference with reserving an air bnb and reserving a charge point - value. Reserving works for air bnb because the average spend must be £100 or more and you stay for a multiple of days. Similarly in a restaurant they allow you to book because they are getting a decent amount of...
