I tested the water proofing on my leaf during the recent UK flooding. anyone else?
  3. Aluminium air batteries

    General EV Discussion
It takes sooooo much energy to make batteries. Using them once and throwing them away is always a bad idea. Reduce - reuse - recycle. I would rather have a rex than a throwaway backup battery.
  4. What is the best place for a rapid charger?

    General Charging Discussion
Ice cream, coffee and a games arcade would be my ideal services. Cheap, quick stuff.
  5. Aluminium air batteries

    General EV Discussion
electric cars are supposed to be green tho. if you have a battery that cant be recharged it wont be green -so may as well stick with petrol.
  6. Rechargeable battery heaters

    General EV Discussion
Try using a heated seat cover. They are really efficient cos they just heat you.
  7. Should I purchase a removable battery product or fixed battery product??

    General Charging Discussion
its not going to have very long range if it has a removable battery. but you will be able to charge it at work maybe? some places are a bit snotty about employees plugging in their own kit. If i were an employer i would not be happy with lithium batteries being charged in an office.
  8. SMETS2 Smart Meters Can't Supply Smart Tariffs!

    General Charging Discussion
Your display should say octopus go on the tarrif section and show the 5p and 14p rates. If not theres a problem and your bills will be wrong.
  9. SMETS2 Smart Meters Can't Supply Smart Tariffs!

    General Charging Discussion
Octopus are great for the inovative tarrifs they offer but... i found that they wrongly programmed my meter as i kept getting incorrect bills. It seems sorted now. And they can re-program the things remotely so don't have to waste your time. Overall im really happy with smart meter and use the...

  11. coiled charge lead?

    General EV Discussion
I was surprised it was still cool. leaf40 is 7kw charge and it had been going for at least 30mins probably longer. The cable was tightly coiled and taped to stop it uncoiling.
  12. coiled charge lead?

    General EV Discussion
Hi spotted a new leaf charging at a public fast charger through a coiled up lead. it was taped together with earthing tape to keep it tidy presumably. I thought this would cause overheating? I touched the coil and it seemed ambient temperature. the screen said it was charging. is there some...
  13. Electric powered expedition truck.

    General EV Discussion
Why are you trying to build a diy vehicle? Why won't existing vehicles meet your needs? Diy vehicles are usually failure prone. Keep it simple. Just adapt something already on the market.
  14. PROBLEMS WITH THE CHARGING CABLE OF EV'S (DT PROJECT)

    General EV Discussion
Another thing you could do would be a cantilevered swing arm cable holder. For people without drives to charge their car on the street. The cable would drop down from the swing arm to charge the car. Thus no trip hazard on the pavement.
  15. PROBLEMS WITH THE CHARGING CABLE OF EV'S (DT PROJECT)

    General EV Discussion
I don't recognise most of those problems. But i do see a potential problem that you could design a usefull product for. theives stealing cables from cars. You could make a cable tidy locking box for the car boot
