  1. Car Tax Renewal

    General EV Discussion
I usually trust computers and the decent 'people' behind them if something does go wrong. In this case I am a little concerned that a Govt department is using language and tactics I would normally associate with rogue debt collectors. The info on line is dubious, the appeals procedure as...
  2. Car Tax Renewal

    General EV Discussion
Well it had to happen, recently got a 'request' for a £40.00 donation to the DVLC for not taxing the Ampera. Otherwise they will clamp it, tow it and crush it? Bit harsh for not paying £nil. Oh, and they will drag me through the criminal courts. Not the first time for that but that's another...
  3. New Retail Park chargers

    General Charging Discussion
NEW Retail park, probably a planning consent condition to provide chargers, maybe a question or even Freedom of Information request to Local Authority may prove fruitful?
  4. Any interest in an Ampera get-together?

    First Generation Ampera and Volt
    I’ll come if I can but I probably can’t.
  5. High miler and end of warranty risky?

    First Generation Ampera and Volt
    OMG a Middle Pedal
  6. Can't cancel scheduled charging

    General Charging Discussion
Just a thought from Ampera experience, if you unplug from car and replug immediately I seem to remember it reverts to immediate charge. Don't quote me though it's been a while and I can't get to manual at moment.
  7. Any one else Cancelled reservation model 3 today ?

    Tesla Model 3
Still got my Day 1 reservation but not paying those prices, so playing a waiting game. I'll give it til Xmas. However the relative I talked into reserving about a year ago can't wait any longer so has cancelled (refunded within the week). Now getting 'range' anxiety due to trying to decide from...
  8. Thank-you and goodnight

    First Generation Ampera and Volt
As it happens, having the deposit down on day one, And waited sooo long. I’m not in a position to take delivery until at least October. So absolutely no advantage in letting Tesla look after my grand all that time, but saved me the bother of reinvesting those few pennies of possible interest...
  9. Charging cable 32a?

    First Generation Ampera and Volt
You may also need a lock as otherwise it may well go walkies. I arranged to have one as an expensive xmas present some years ago. Definitely won't recoup the cost but oh boy it is very manly struggling with those coils in public and worth it just for the attention.
  10. PHEV blocking chargemaster / polar rapid charger

    General Charging Discussion
Didn't quite read it that way, more like using slow destination charger when there was a rapid alternative nearby. Otherwise he would be a 'tosh pot' which I doubt.
  11. Boot issue

    First Generation Ampera and Volt
For information of anyone interested I had to change my original (May 12) 12v in November. Had needed a couple of jump starts. For historical disaster related reasons I am not allowed to operate spanners or screwdrivers so Arnold Clark plied me with coffee and internet and playing in new cars I...
  12. What defects are acceptable on a new car?

    General EV Discussion
Absolutely, when I used to change my car every 2 yrs, regularly had to wait for hand over whilst they removed rear window sticker and sticky residue. However buying the Ampera, I actually wanted to advertise the dealer as they were few and far between. Removed sticker myself after a year or so...
  13. Using the key socket in the dash tray

    First Generation Ampera and Volt
Damn, I've been saving that snippet for nigh on seven years hoping I could be a momentary hero on here one day.
  14. Guide to dealers servicing Amperas and Volts

    First Generation Ampera and Volt
Seems to me, without knowing I needed to tell Arnold Clarke they had to do extra work I have invalidated the 8 yr warranty. Or possibly they did the work and I just paid the bill. Ignorance was bliss. Still got a Lifetime Warranty on all the other bits so that's all good then.
  15. Looking to buy an EV

    General EV Discussion
Well there is less to go wrong, but oh boy when it does! Having said that I've never had that oh boy moment coming up to 7 yrs in Spring
