  1. Public charging, Oxford and Abingdon for me but this applies everywhere

    General EV Discussion
I totally go back on my previous comment in regards to bigger batteries being bad, I lost my mind for a bit. In the false news of course. I'd forgotten the the supply chain for fuel (diesel or petrol). This has to be mined, and drilled, pumped and shipped, refined and driven!! FFS seriously...

Ugh! Charger shortage strikes again! So my local Polar Rapid charger was broken the other day (I knew this would happen), the slower 7kw was in use with another car already. So after the conversations on here I decided to suck it up and travel to the next charger (10 mile roundtrip). The Polar...

Parked and charged again last night. Decided to try my Chip and Pin debit card as an RFID card to swipe. Again this works fine without any other website authentication. As a side note this is £3.50 for parking for the Evening tariff (5pm - 6am). There was no additional charge from Genie! The...

The latest feedback I've read is that the manufacturers have been surprised or should I say shocked that the batteries lifetime exceeds their projections. Ooops a manufacturer making a product that doesn't break??? O dear! Saying that I'm on 44,000 miles in my 2013 Leaf and generally Rapid...
  5. Public charging, Oxford and Abingdon for me but this applies everywhere

Hmmm, charging at home is good for those who charge and have the suitable range for daily commutes (so well done Oxford). My point was more on the public chargers and people travelling in and out of the area and those who cannot home charge or are passing through. ****ignore the next bit read...

I havent registered the Chargemaster card with Genie at all. I imagine they would probably want this registered moving on though?
  7. Public charging, Oxford and Abingdon for me but this applies everywhere

I agree, and I think they will. I think they have sped the inclusion of ev charging through and they want to hear this sort of feed back. I'll get on to the site and feedback. I would encourage everyone else to do the same. As usual this will be lead by everyone that uses the sites (or by the...

I did read somewhere one provider was looking into recognising your actual vehicle (maybe anpr?) So you literally just drive up and plug in. Especially when this technology is already present at filling stations??? Shell was staying with the app option but I don't see why it can be a drive up...

I didn't need to pay anything and I had no credit on the account? Maybe its dependent on the charge point?

I visited on Sunday at about 9:45, loads of spaces available at this time (so I think get there early is a good idea)?! Used my Chargemaster card as an "any Rfid card" and this works no problem. No registration needed, no app connection needed! Easy peasey. Happy days. Nice centre, especially...

A word of warning, yes we need greater range but at the moment were not quite ready yet, battery technology has to advance quite a bit. The initial CO2 it takes to manufacture the higher range cars (some models are 60% more - Tesla - scary) is quite extraordinary, you would need to run the...

Interesting read on the CPSGenie site, the chargers will accept any Rfid card (or debit card) you just have to go through registry of the card in conjuction with there website so they know who you are.

Brilliant comments all. The future will be a mix of chargers, but lets not forget the installation at the Westgate is to service people so they can then shop, there has to be a financial incentive for the location as well otherwise these things don't get installed or looked after. I'm not...

I hadn't realised about the other thread i'll check it out, but it does still apply for the surrounding areas. I'm afraid you're right about the councils - there seems to be an apathy over the requirement and no idea about how to gain funding. It is a little frustrating when the grants are...

Hi fellow Ev'ers, I am encouraged to see that at the new Westgate in Oxford has invested in 50 (yes 50!) charging points ranging from 7kw to 22kw. Some are free, some charge (no pun intended). I would encourage anyone who thinks we still need more in Oxford or Abingdon to contact their local...

Brilliant point. This hasn't been thought through.

I do think it's not very educated a plan. Usual then, the blind leading the blind? Supermarkets and food outlets would have been better. Hopefully were talking fast chargers as well not just 3 or 7kw?

The interesting thing here might be high voltage and petrol fumes?? Maybe?

This is on the cards would be great to see this come to life. Maybe they'll be an indication in the Queens speech today?
