  1. Chargemaster install and earthing rods

    General Charging Discussion
It's a free install. Will be pressing for them to cover any additional costs in the first instance, though there's probably some T&Cs somewhere which means they're under no obligation to.
  2. Chargemaster install and earthing rods

    General Charging Discussion
What granny lead? Renault don't supply one. Instead they arrange for a home charger to be installed (though don't warn you that this may be problematic).
  3. Chargemaster install and earthing rods

    General Charging Discussion
I may do that, depends on how much this extra earthing is going to cost me or if I can get Renault to pay for it (as the charger is supposedly provided with the car). If cost of earthing is more than a pod point with the grant then I should just do that. At the moment though I'm stuck in limbo...
  4. Chargemaster install and earthing rods

    General Charging Discussion
Was supposed to be getting my home charge point installed from Chargemaster this morning. However after sinking four rods into the ground he could only get the earth down to 370 ohms and apparently Renault require it to be under 150 ohms? Anyone else had this problem? The engineer said I need...
  5. Isolation switch - Octopus

    General Charging Discussion
And I now have my provisional date for charger installation, two weeks tomorrow :D
  6. Isolation switch - Octopus

    General Charging Discussion
Engineer is at the house doing the install now :D Progress!
  7. Isolation switch - Octopus

    General Charging Discussion
I called them again yesterday and spoke to someone who agreed with me that it was strange to require a smart meter before they would install the isolation switch. He appeared to understand that while I would like a smart meter, my priority is the isolation switch and I'd very much like that...
  8. Isolation switch - Octopus

    General Charging Discussion
I'm sure it will get sorted out and once it is I'll feel a lot more relaxed about everything. At the moment I'm parking in a shopping centre once or twice a week so I can use their destination chargers, as I know they have 10 that are always free in the morning as opposed to the chargeplace...
  9. Isolation switch - Octopus

    General Charging Discussion
It turns out I can complain about Octopus' service even if it's free. They've suddenly cancelled my isolation switch install as they claim it requires a smart meter to be present. Which sounds like utter nonsense to me. Then when I tried to talk to them they refused to discuss it with me as I...
  10. Graphene for battery storage

    General Charging Discussion
Hobby RC electronics have supposedly used graphene in batteries for a while now (Turnigy started promoting a line of them a couple of years ago). Inov-8 put graphene in the sole of their latest trail running shoes, supposedly to increase grip and strength without sacrificing weight.
  11. Isolation switch - Octopus

    General Charging Discussion
Not as quick as I hoped, but can't complain due to the price. Two weeks give or take and then I'll probably have a few weeks to wait after that before Chargemaster can do their bit. All depends on how busy they are in your area though. I believe other companies do it for free but it seems to be...
  12. Isolation switch - Octopus

    General Charging Discussion
Due to get it installed next week. Octopus do it for free :)
