So I have posted before about the poor state of my infotainment system.
I switches itself off.
The screen goes blank.
It jumps tracks on media.
The apple carplay is useless.
The screen is unresponsive and slow.

So I just wanted to canvas opinion on everybody else's system . Is it just mine ? Have I got a lemon ?
Dealer has looked at it several times. Done updates its still the same. They have witnessed the issues.
They don't know what to do. I have also contacted VW UK and they have asked the dealer to do loads of things to no avail.
Its got to the point now where I just leave it off.

Anyway how is everybody else's holding up ?

We have the 2018 non-Advance model, so 8" screen rather than the Pro model you have, so not really apples-to-apples comparison, but overall it's OK. I had a problem early after getting the car in that the infotainment screen would intermittently stay blank on starting the car; rebooting the car (several times occasionally) would mean it would come back on again. My dealer was really helpful in fault-finding things with VW input; they did updates first with no success, and as an entire new unit was going to be >£2k they tested a replacement screen first which did the job, and has been 100% ever since.

I really only ever use Apple CarPlay or the DAB radio, both work great, my only minor complaint in operation is that occasionally CarPlay audio doesn't kick in straight away and I need to reconnect the phone for audio to work. I think is probably a bug about timing of when I plug the phone in vs starting the car and infotainment turning on, might be Apple as much as VW to blame. Perhaps I should try a different Lightning cable to one VW supplied with the car, have you tried that?

Otherwise all good for me. I'd be making a case for swapping out the unit, even it it means poaching one temporarily from another vehicle to prove the point.

Thanks for replying.

I have tried a different cable but it was the same. The dealer wouldn't change the unit as the magic computer said no fault found. Although they admit to seeing the faults.

It was the same for me, diagnostics said everything was fine despite obvious issue. Maybe I was just fortunate in my dealer being far more helpful (Inchcape in Swindon, highly recommended from my experience, their technical specialist was happy to escalate with VW).

I have the same unit as you and haven't had many problems but I'm using Android Auto rather than CarPlay. AA does occasionally disconnect (sometimes multiple times on the same journey) but it's no worse than my Golf GTE was. The other month, when my car couldn't connect to the internet and the whole thing was rendered useless, the VW tech that came out showed me something on his laptop (whilst highlighting "I'm absolutely NOT meant to show you this") that described general infotainment issues (including some of the stuff you've described but I can't remember the exact list of issues) and the status of that was 'no known fix yet' or 'awaiting fix' or something similar.
Basically VW know there are issues but it seems like they don't know how to resolve or just haven't got round to it yet.
