A second hurdle - availability. Most of the (few) desirable EVs that exist at something like "sensible" prices generally have terrible availability (Ioniq, Tesla Model 3, probably Kona).

When you go out to buy a car, you hopefully come back with the right car at the right price for you.
And we have all seen vehicles that have sold very well to our surprise but it was simply that they were right car for the right price at that time for an awful lot of people.
When a manufacturer has a winning formula, they stick with it, hence a car like the Nissan Qashqai/Rogue.
So Nissan, don't try and produce a different model that is an ev to run alongside the Qashqai. Just stick electric motors in it in such a way that your customers keep on buying as many if not more.
There is nothing to be afraid of in turning the best selling vehicles into EV.
