That’s what I’d expected might be the case. So we have a perfectly functional car potentially scrapped because of a capacitor. I’m hopeful there’ll be decent indie repair options for many of these very expensive modules.
In terms of basic functionality it’s all pretty standard stuff these days. Motor controllers, BMS, 7kW 400V chargers, they’re all available off the shelf. The issue is the integration done by manufacturers to provide a nice user experience. I remain hopeful there’ll be more of a conversion market for ice cars in the future and we’ll see plenty of aftermarket chargers etc that can be retrofitted to older cars.
