Over on one of the German EV forums someone has posted a picture of a "Life" with the optional Bi-colour exterior styling pack. This includes (with the rear pillar sticker) different trims for the steel wheels.

Actually they are the same but have some extra black paint or vinyl to change the look, an easy mod to change later I think. It's subjective but I personally prefer them to the standard.

I have used these guys before and been pleased with the service and quality.

They have an Automotive Films section on the site.

I've asked my very helpful dealer if they can find if the wheel vinyl parts are available to order. If they are not extortionately expensive I might buy the official ones. It's certainly cheaper than £1000 alloys though

I should think there will be plenty on eBay Germany soon enough, that’s my go to source for things like this, some of the big German VW dealers have selling pages and it’s always much cheaper than over here.

I would expect you would need to buy 4 whole wheel trims from VW, I would be surprised if they supply a retro fit kit of vinyl parts. It's an eBay business opportunity for someone however, like that guy on eBay in the states who does the e-Golf vinyl for those wheels.

The other parts of the ‘pack’ are just vinyl, so why wouldn’t the wheels be?

The plain wheel trims already have the outlines where the black bits go.

I understood that to be the case but I still don't see how it is in VW's interest to make it easy to avoid taking the full package from them at £480 by selling you arguably the most desirable part of it for £40.

Don’t forget that includes the cost of a ‘technician’ to stick them on. ;)
