Hello peeps, first time poster here, based in north east UK.
I'm about to jump into the EV domain after 8 years with a Prius plugin and I've got my eyes on the Leaf e+.

Q1. Last October Nissan has released a communication for a MY20 update adding shark fin antenna, telescopic wheel and a few other interesting things I'm after, "with production starting from 16th November, ".
Now, not being a petrol-head (haha) I have no idea about the usual timings e.g. since the communication and the start date of production when's likely to be able to find them on the market? I assume I'd get a MY20 version ordering it brand new but I'd like to browse for some offers if possible.

Q2. Does it mean that now any Leaf e+ with a shark fin antenna is likely to be a MY20 version? I know you could have one added even before but how normal is it for car dealer to add one by default?

Q3. Better to buy one before Brexit? Nobody really knows but afaik there's a chance to have all prices increased by ~10% in the worst case scenario. I'm in a pickle because of the MY20 vs Brexit chance...
Any opinion is welcome!

Thank you and happy charging everybody.

I Test drove a 62kWh LEAF in the US not so long ago and that had the telescopic wheel. However when briefly looking at them now I am back in the UK (also in the north east!) it doesn't seem to be a thing from what I have seen yet.

The best thing you can do is check with a dealer to see what the latest UK specs are that can be ordered. Where abouts are you in NE England? Some dealers around here are great, but others haven't got a clue especially when it comes to EVs. Depending on where you are, I might be able to point you in the right direction to a competent dealer to ask.

If you can definitely get what you are looking for now, I would probably say yes it's best to buy now rather than wait. Prices are only likely to go up.

I disagree, prices may go down if the European market reduces (due to 10% tariffs to sell into the EU) and as there's now more competition from the ID3 than the e-Golf represented in that segment.
Most dealers will deliver to you at low cost - we bought a LEAF from Edinburgh and delivery to Herefordshire was £200.

The Gateshead Lookers dealer on the Felling bypass is the most knowledgable in the country for serious issues like battery faults. Almost every LEAF in the UK that needs a replacement battery will go there since they are one of the very few dealers capable of doing such work. Unfortunately they are absolutely hopeless in my experience when it comes to sales and regular servicing.

There's an Evans Halshaw Nissan dealer just off Wessington Way, Sunderland. I've dealt with both them and their Renault location just down the road. Both have been great for EVs with both purchases and servicing. They know what they're talking about and would be my recommendation.

Looking at the EH website, their pictures for the LEAF do seem to show the shark fin, and the description mentions rake and reach steering adjustment. I'd say it sounds promising!

That's also a fair point. Just at the moment we don't know for sure how things are going to go, and that typically means things will probably get worse not better in my experience. Right now there are plenty of deals to be done from what I have seen with cars recently so if OP can get a price they like the look of, I would probably still be inclined to say now is better than later.

Nearly new (and pre reg) Leafs are £10-15k cheaper than ordering new (so basically the price they should have been to start with).

This is basically why I never got one. It was impossible to find a pre reg etc with Propilot Park and no way in hell am I paying a £15k premium for a factory order with it.

LEAF is made in the UK and will not be subject to import duty. What happens to UK retail prices because of tariffs on components from the EU is an unknown.

About the only given is you can pay today's price for one today. The future retail price could be higher, lower or exactly the same.
