Hello;

I was speaking with VW and from what they said here in France the E-UP will not be in production anymore. Not sure if that is forever, or just for the foreseeable future. They offered me a model they have "in stock" ....."someplace". However, there are a few things on that model that I would like to have had. I wonder if anyone knows if it is possible to add on features later?

A simple one if possible is that the car they offered does not have the 6 speakers. I am wondering if that just means they are not attached and could be added later? Or worse maybe there is some type of amp that needs to be added? Wonder if anyone might know? The option on the configurator is about 230€ so it seems to be more than just speakers...

The other option I do not see but remember hearing about was more stiff shocks. Does anyone know if that is bundled with the larger wheels or style packs? I cannot seem to decipher the configurator not the site or build list it spits out....

I think they are going to become very hard to find. On speakers consider going "after market" to a ICE specialist they would be able to upgrade the speakers no problem and are more used to doing it than the VW dealer. Interestingly the ID.3 also only has front speakers on most models, it saves cost but they are also saying that these days kids in the back have headphones on and are plugged into the phone listening to different things to the adults in the front. We may not like that as an idea but it is prob true for many folk my teens included.

I'm sure you would be able to upgrade the shocks but if you are doing mostly urban driving and occasional use of the smooth French motorways would you want to?

The Škoda Citigo-e iV has sold out and is now being permanently taken out of circulation, just as its combustion engine counterpart was last year. VW has also imposed a temporary order stop for the e-Up in Germany, also due to high demand. In the UK, however, the VW e-Up is still configurable...

thanks for the response. Sorry about the delay, I have not received notifications from the site....

It turns out that VW (at least here in France) still has a few e-UPs floating around, mostly demo models and ones that have odd feature packs.... as the one offered to me with fewer speakers, or whatever. I guess they made some with some automated package lists and people did not buy them.

As for the comment about "smooth roads".....well yeah they do exist, just not here in Nice. Besides the car getting a vigorous workout daily on the rough roads, it gets dinged, scratched, and "bumped" daily... even in special EV parking slots (people see these as targets to stick the diesel cars in too "sandwich mode").

For most of the reasons above, we have avoided buying anything bigger or more expensive. I got my Telsa 3 deposit back a few months ago, and do not think about the ID3 or Peugeot 208-e because of the type of environment here in the city.

In many ways the e-UP is the ideal size and price range for the city. I would have a heart attack if I had a 70k€ car getting scratched daily, or want to kill somebody....either day not good for a car. That is why many folks here own a clio (and use it) and park their BMW in the garage and never use it!
