My Ampera was in the garage this week to have its bonnet changed (was lightly damaged in transit on the original one).

The service tech told me that they had also changed the waterproofing on the windscreen wiper plenum (I guess where the motors are housed) due to an advisory from Vauxhall coming up on the computer.

You might want to ask about having the same done.

My car is going into the dealer for the first time later this week specifically as it in the affected batch (serial No) for the sealant fix, I was phoned by 'My Ampera' to arrange this as they wanted to get them all sorted before the weather turned for winter (maybe they are a bit late...) so it seems that you'll get a call if your car is affected.

I understand this sealant fix is to solve the wet foot well floor issue that some drivers have been experiencing. (though I have not noticed a wet floor.) I'm not sure if its an Ampera only issue or if Volts are affected too.

Mine is to go in on Monday - an hour and a half's work so I am told.

This is also seen as a safety issue given there are a few hundred volts floating around the car so it would be best to get it done before you have your hair stand on end  given that winter is only just around the corner.

Yeah I was told about an hour or so, they collected the car whilst I was at work today (they had from 8-4) but somehow they didn't manage to get the car back to me until 4:40pm so the wife had to get a taxi, and it was totally out of fuel and had been running on vapours for the last 10 mile to get back to me.

I'm not very impressed.

Well I hope they do mine OK in the time frame - I have to sit and stare at the ceiling while they do it - I have a 50 mile round trip to the dealer

Mine was an 85 mile round trip, they should be collecting the car from you.

Definitely should collect it from you and in my case I was loaned another Ampera to use while they had it. When mine came back there was more petrol in it than before.

Thanks Eden!

Just got the call from the garage. In the same boat as Parax, 40 miles away from the nearest specialist. So, they're going to see if they can arrange a technician to visit my place of work to do the fix.

Fingers crossed.

Are you in exactly the same boat? Drive Leicester?

They arranged collection and took that car back to their shop, rather than doing it onsite, is that how they are doing yours?

Either way I hope yours goes better than mine...

Not exactly the same boat. I must be the other side of Nottingham.
I'm with Pentagon Vauxhall (Shefield). 40 miles away in the other direction.

They said they'd 'try' to arrange a technician, otherwise it'll be them picking up my car, and dropping it off when they're done.

I'm hoping for the former rather than the later. Either way, it's not for nearly two weeks...

Well took the car in to the dealer today - apparently what has to happen (so I am told) is that the car must be inspected as some require the mod and others do not. So after the inspection the dealer can order the parts from Vauxhall and then I have to take the car back to have them/it fitted.

So be prepared for two visits to the dealer to fix the issue.

My car has just been in today.

The bad news, they couldn't arrange a visit from a technician, so they collected it. After the 80 mile round trip it comes back with no bettery charge left.

The good news, at least they charged it up a bit whilst they were working on it. When I plugged it in after I got home, it had used 15.5kwh, so they must've put in about 5kwh.
