Hi

I have been having an intermittent fault with the Airconditioning/heater unit.
On several occassions during the warm weather the air conditioning shuts down.
The cabin fan stops running and the aircon/heater display shows white markers against the fan speed instead of green. The only way of restoring the system is to switch it off for 10 secs and switch it on again. The problem is very intermittent but today it kept shutting down after 25 secs of running all the time.
However when I parked up at home and switched the car off then on again it ran continuously without fault.

I have tried it without the aircon switched on when the fault was continuosly repeating and the fan still shut down when the car is moving .

Has anyone else had a similar problem and had it resolved?

I think your problem could be faulty resistor pack in the fan unit. A few people have experienced this. MG dealers should know about it.

They must have received a faulty batch of resistors at the factory, as this appears to be a common problem.
Not common, but like you say there does appear to be a batch of folk affected.

Mine appears okay ( touch wood ) but I know of at least six people who have required replacement resistor parts to rectify their problem.
Not a massive number considering the volume of cars sold I guess ?.
Should be easy to identify the faulty units from the batch number I would think 🤔.
I think a new unit is about £30 and about one hours worth of labour to install, so not a massive warranty claim really.
I remember buying a similar ( smaller ) item for a BMW 3 series I had once.
I think it was about £40 back in the day.
No surprise there then !.
It’s very rarely a cheap fix on a BMW 🤣.
