I noticed my Ampera has no plastic air deflector under the engine

Am I missing something?

There is a small deflector behind the skirt (air dam), but it's kind of small
So I can't see in the back of the bumper. except through those triangular openings maybe

I still do not like how nothing will deflect the chunks of ice that could impact whatever is down there

so, are we missing the lathrt deflector, or there is no large deflector to start with?

I checked on epc, I found no other deflector

I guess I'll have to make one from carbon fiber or fiberglass

I'm not sure i'd be doing that, the areo on the car is very carefully worked out and if it would have been a benefit i'm sure GM would have fitted one. I suspect that if you fit one you will disrupt the air exhaust from the radiators.

I am afraid that a chunk of ice would disrupt more the engine functionality :p

I live in a mountain area where we do get icy roads for about 2 months. And chunks of ice fall from behind the wheels of large trucks
