I know, it's a pain in the ass, mine is on the screen, and my (old) charger had no settings, but it was a bit hit and miss, and I found that I prefer the quality of the Nissan Leaf charger, so I use one of those now, it does exactly the same job.

mine's the revised model, 2014

Over the same 45 mile test route :

Tesla displayed 222Wh/m, actually used 255.0Wh/m
Ampera displayed 201Wh/m, actually used 234.8Wh/m

Ampera wins !

Could these results be due to the Volt/Ampy running the motor at its ideal rpm via the Voltec system which uses the sun and planet gears along with the second motor/gene to modify the gear ratio continuously.

I've a feeling under electric drive its effectively a 2 speed gearbox, switches in around 40 mph, you can feel it untangle the gears when you put your foot down, a slight hesitation before it takes off.

Did Porsche say they were the first with a 2 speed box....

That is not a gearbox. Just a transmission that switches between 1 motor drive (more power) and 2 motor drive ( more efficient)

If it is a steady fast drive I would suspect the Ampera. On a town route the Tesla.

The efficiencies are not scalar for all the speed range due to the Ampera's effective two speed option.
