Hi,

I now own a Vgate iCar 2 Wi-Fi which I use with an iOS device.

I cannot get it to work with my Leaf with "generic" software - I haven't bought LeafSpy yet. I don't think the one I have is defective as it works OK with bimmercode and my wife's 2 Series.

With the generic software, I can confirm that my phone does connect to the dongle, but the dongle cannot connect to the ECU. Is this because the generic software assumes that the car is fossil fuelled and that the correct protocol for my Leaf is not being used?

Seeing as it works with a BMW, do I simply need to buy LeafSpy in order to get the thing working with my Leaf (I'm assuming because it knows the correct protocol), or is there still a chance it will not connect? I would rather not fork out for LeafSpy until I am confident that the Vgate will work.

Many thanks,

Alan..

LeafSpy Pro is only £20 - defo worth it if you are looking at buying a hand hand Leaf...

It works fine on my iPhone SE and a Vgate iCarII
