Another Tesla in the wild

4091 Views 40 Replies 15 Participants Last post by  nattydread
Coming home from the morning run, to my non-descript little cul-de-sac, I spied a Red 64 plate Tesla parked up outside someone's house.

I have never seen a Ferrari, Lamborghini or similar. A Jaguar XF once but that was it - this really is middle class surburbia here.

Promising sign of normality I think.

[And if whoever had a red 64-plate Tesla in Francis Gardens today wants a charge, just give me a shout :)]

The weird thing is I have seen 3 this week around Colchester, never seen any before.
I spotted my first tesla 'in the wild' on Sunday parked up in pub car park in Corley moor, Warwickshire. May have freaked the owner out a little by standing by the drivers side window waiting for him to notice me ( he was working on his laptop).. But we had a nice chat and he told me he lives in knowle, had his MS 85 (blue/tan/pano) since sept 14, and still very much enjoying. (Apart I guess from annoying intrusions in car parks) Apparently no probs at all apart from the indicated range sometimes being way too optimistic.

He could fix that by getting a 60... the range estimate is more accurate ;)

The calc is set at 345kwH/mi in a 60 vs 315kwH/mi in a P85.

They need recharging about every 600 yards then? Units man! Come on! Wh/mile. not kwH/mi!

good spot my bad
Spotting them a few times a week now.

Just spotted a Black S in Winchester with plate XS11 ENT. Drove past me at the Westgate as I was walking to the station.

Waiting for the Model X perhaps?
I saw my first parked up Roadster on Saturday.

Black one in the resident parking outside Natural History museum. Nice car.

I've seen one outside Imperial College, maybe the same one?

Looks strangely familiar :D

Though it was wearing it's canvas top.
Just spotted a very nice p85 driving the other way outside earlsdon premier inn in coventry - I think it may be the dark green, or poss dark grey - either way looked good with the dark grey 21's.

Saw my second Model S85 in the wild today at Ferrybridge Moto. Didn't get chance to speak to the owner who was nowhere to be found, harumph. You can see the reflection of this red beauty in the Ecotricity display.

Er, when i see that realise Ecotricity need to start charging ASAP by the minute. Thats £7 worth of free leccy, but worse still noone else can use it for over 2.5 hours!! Thats charging at 22 or 11kW presumably. Dont have a problem if they want to pay over the odds for day time leccy. But it may be just someone getting a free fill up as its cheaoer than at home ... being free!
No one could use it, or far worse, the CHAdeMO rapid it was a part of. I was in the small queue for the triple header adjacent. Much tutting all round.

Or it may be someone who needs a charge.

Don't know about you, but 2hrs of my time is worth more to me than a few quid's worth of free electricity.

Maybe Ecotricity will do us all a favor and install some 22kw chargers next to the rapids. Until then, first come, first served.
Laughable isn't it.

Doesn't mind paying £60k+ for a car. But is so tight arse he is hanging around at a service station for 2 1/2 hours to save £5ish on his home electricity bill.

If he's in a real need for this charge to arrive at his next destination I apologise. But there are 2 x supercharger locations 15 miles away. So it would make sense to arrive at one of them and charge at 5x or 10x the rate of this Ecotricity charger.

@Ecotricity you really need to implement payment for charging sooner rather than later!

Too tight to pay the £450 for the CHAdeMO adapter as well. Crazy. (The Tesla was plugged into the AC.)
