I know that a French company has won the tender to operate the network and that it will change hands in June. But as yet, not a word about pricing, applying for a new card etc etc. has anyone else had anything more concrete yet?

Without wanting to sound line anti-European type. Who will actually 'owns' the hardware now? Will the ownership be transferred to the French company?

I stupidly ordered a Source London card last week, duly paid my £10 assuming it would be valid for the year regardless. Card arrived in 2 days, expiry date of 30 June 2014 and the comment that a new supplier would be announced soon...
I feel a little peeved that they didn't warn me it would expire so soon when I ordered it.

I had a Source London card which expired in early April. I renewed it, and found the same thing.

I phoned them about it, and was told that they were doing this as they couldn't guarantee what the new operators would want to do, but in reality expected them to actually still honour the complete year for the cards.

Sounded a bit lame, but maybe something in it??

I was speaking to the Source London help desk today, and was told that the latest news is that the cards have been extended to the end of the year - 31/12/14, rather than end of June.

Sounds like the takeover is still on, but delayed. Meantime things carry on as they are at the moment.

While I have a Source London card, which gives roaming for Source East, Source East itself looks the better deal, as for £10 a year it gives roaming to both Source London, and PIM. And they haven't announced any forthcoming changes AFAIK.

I also went for source east for the dual roaming. Have tried a couple of source London chargers, all worked ok.

Am certainly intrigued at how it will pan out.

That's why I went with Source London as I heard Source East cards were taking a while to arrive. My London card arrived in less than 48 hours (it might even have been the next day) and as I thought I might use it at Gatwick it seemed the better choice until I saw the expiry date...

Just rang source east - no record of my application despite taking my £10 on the 10th May but they promised to send today. Like you I am hoping to use at Gatwick on Monday - anyone tried them there yet ?

I didn't actually use them (I rapid charged at Pease Pottage instead) but the last I looked, the Source London site showed both North and South Terminals as offline. Would be interest to know if they are actually working as I'm back there in a week or so...

Well Gatwick is 62 motorway miles from my house and son has to catch flight on Monday. I will be risking wrath if missus if Zoe doesn't make it there - but will give it a go and head on to pease pottage or clacket lane services if no joy at Gatwick.

Bear in mind Clackett Lane AC is offline both sides at the moment.

I haven't tried the gatwick ones, but will be going there in October, so it's on my list to try. Wonder if I can leave it on charge for 5 days whilst on holiday ;)

I wouldn't. The chargers are in the North and South SHORT STAY car parks, and give you free parking for four hours.

What would the charge be for 5 days in short stay (less the first 4 hours).

There also may be the ethical issue of tying up a single charge point for 5 days!

Ecotricity site and zap map show clacket lane as working. Do you have other information #flipper ?
You mean other than being there on Saturday and anti-clockwise showing AC offline *and* Ecotricity tweeting the same yesterday? :)

We flew from Gatwick recently, and the charging thing annoyed me. The facility is there, but it's not a huge amount of use - apart from those collecting people.

I completely agree that tying it up for a week or two isn't the answer - but (sorry for thinking outside the box again!) why couldn't their valet parking people provide EV charging in long stay? They have your keys, they can shuffle EVs once they're charged.

because no one thought it through. All the airport charging I have used is 13 amp only, and its all in the short stay and all requires a card to access it. If they just put 13 amp sockets in 50 bays it would not be a problem is someone tied up a socket for a long time. There would be plenty of others.

I wouldn't actually tie up a charger for 5 days as that would be proper a$$hole behaviour! However, grabbing a few hours charge before moving it to long stay doesn't sound too bad! Especially as I will be flying at 06:00 !!
