For folk that might not know, the original Netherlands based Open Charge Alliance communication protocols such as OCPP 1.6, 2.0 .1netc is the industry standard used to communicate with chargers and the back office across EV charging networks.

OCPP xxx is used to monitor the health/status of a charger, initiate remote resets, provided for data exchange on charging sessions including authentication and billing etc. So important stuff for running a decent charging network.

Looking at their website today, there are well known charger rmanufacturers on the list of participants such as ABB. Also Network Operators such as FastNed. These are all companies that seem to be competent, know what they are doing and operate compliant with agreed protocols. This all results in high levels of customer satisfaction.

Participants - Open Charge Alliance as at 17th September 2021 12:00 noon

Just noticed scrolling through that list, that SWARCO seem to be missing from the participants in Open Charge Alliance.

Does anyone know if in fact they are fully paid up members of Open Charge Alliance?

Just noticed that Newcastle University are participants, must be doing some good EV charging network R&D.

Whats about SWARCO. Are they participants in Open Charge Alliance?

Membership isn't compulsory and there are many missing UK CPOs - BP Pulse, CYC, Gridserve etc etc.

Trans Scot should have required applicants wanting to run the CPS network to be certified and not just members.

Instead they appointed a company that is certifiable!:devilish:

I seem to recall that BP Pulse incorporating CYC were ranked very low in terms of network reliability in a certain recent survey. Very poor indeed.

Now is it possible that its a correlation that the "good" network operators are members of Open Charge Alliance whilst the rubbish ones are not? Just wondering mind

Shell seem to be a member of the Open Charge Alliance (through taking over The NewMotion BV), but that doesn't mean they can keep many of their charge points at their filling stations in a working state. I'd suggest that in terms of reliability, they're worse than CYC ever were.
