When I go into Park, the brake applies automatically 90% of the time. The other occasions the brake isn't applied automatically and I'm trying to work out if that is something that I am doing.

Auto Hold?? Also depends on if your foot is on the brake or not when you switch to Park, although I haven't really noticed!

After bringing the car to a halt, you have to continue to hold the brake pedal down for more than a second for the auto hold to engage. I wonder if this, or another, time delay plays a part in auto parking brake. I am trying to be more attentive whenever I put the car into park but in the last 4 trips, it has worked automatically every time.

I’m in ireland and have a 63kWh Evolve. In the UK delivery we’ve been having a discussion about the Auto Lock feature. It is on an Evolve owned by another in the U.K. (photo confirmation provided), but it is not a menu option on mine (see below, have 4 of 5 locking options, auto lock is the 5th), nor is the switch on solution at P. 181/2 in the manual effective. I’m at my garage for accessories fitting on Wed so will mention to them. Do others have the feature on their menus ?

Hi @JohnCollinson. You have the auto lock option I think from the other thread ? I was at the garage today. They were surprised I don’t have it, as it’s a fairly std feature for a number of years. Pending his investigating with Nissan Irl, purely speculating the guy wondered if because mine a 63 kWH vs larger battery. Not with any conviction or trying to fob me off. Yours is an 87 kWH Evolve ? Thanks.

Yes mine is the 87kWh Evolve. I do have the auto lock.

Update on the parking brake.

I discussed this with the dealer this morning and he said that the parking brake is completely automatic unless you intervene. So if you drive off and allow the car to take the brake off, it will reapply it when you go into Park or turn the car off. If you take it off yourself using the button, it will stay off until you apply it yourself.

I haven’t tested this but when I think back to the times it has/hasn’t worked automatically, it seems credible.

I never ever release the brake manually but, despite that, the car randomly chooses not to put the brake on when I park. 6 starts today but only 5 applications of the brake at park. After careful observation, I have decided it isn't me but it is the car at fault.

That is consistent with my experience. It seems pretty random as well. I initially thought it might be related to brake pedal pressure but I couldn't replicate it.

Oh I have just remembered another irritation, why do you need to hit the start button to turn the car off- it should just switch off when you lock the door. The manual implies that might be possible but clearly I do not know the correct number of animal sacrifices required to make it happen.

You have to hit the start button to turn the car off because its an on/off button and that is the way it was designed. There is no option to change the way it works.

Personally I prefer that it requires a positive action to power off, then you know its been done, similarly I want to tell the car I am ready to go & not have the car become 'live' without a positive action. I hated that about the iD4 that I test drove.

To me it feels like a hangover from ICE designs. My positive action in that case is locking the door, I much prefer the ID style approach.

I've just received an email from Nissan support telling me that app version 2.3.3 that fixed a bug I'd reported where it wasn't saving a favourite home or work address also fixes the climate alarm issue we've all been having.

I was convinced this would require a firmware update to the car, but perhaps the app now turns off the internal sensors when you remotely activate climate?

They've asked me to double-check it's fixed. It's not all that cold today, but I will give it a go later. If you want to see how you get on, make sure you've got the app update installed and let it rip! 😁

The app is Nissan Connect.

I need to go out shortly, so I put the remote climate on as a test and after a few minutes the alarm hadn't gone off which is a good sign. However, I've just checked again and in the app climate is now not running despite me not turning it off. The temperature of the cabin is still showing as "Cold". The log tab in the app didn't note when I'd turned climate on despite it doing that prior to this latest update, so that wasn't much help. I can't remember exactly what time I turned it on, but it must've run for at least 10 minutes before it stopped itself, probably longer.

Perhaps Nissan's fix is to randomly turn the feature off altogether. That would work, however it's not the fix we're ideally looking for. 😁

I've just turned climate back on again via the app and noted the time I did it. I'm going out shortly so will see if it's still running when I put my shoes on.

You only need Nissan Connect. The Nissan EV app is for the older Leafs. Lucky really because the Connect app is 100x better.

That's disappointing. My experience was slightly different to yours. The alarm didn't go off, but the app continued to randomly switch off climate control without me asking it to. It's also not putting it in the notification log.

So by the sounds of it, it's not fixed. I'm going to feedback to Nissan as they asked me to and I'm going to mention that although the alarm didn't go off for me, I'm aware of at least one other person with this version of the app who still has this issue. I'll send a link to this thread.

I took the car to the dealers today so they could investigate the lane assist system fault I was experiencing.
As it happens, they received a bulletin yesterday from Nissan confirming the fault is steering wheel related and that it needs to be replaced. They have now ordered the replacement but it sounds like it will be awhile before it arrives.

I, of course, completely forgot to mention the alarm
