As Predicted chargers are getting busier

I was looking to plan a journey next week with a pit stop just north of Oxford. Surprised to find 3 rapid chargers in use contemporaneously this evening in the very location.

It’s pot luck really, I rapid charged at Ripon today at the Booths Instavolts, expected them to be busy but I was the only one there for the 24 mins I was charging.

Had a look at Wetherby Services after I’d picked up a coffee, and the sole CCS plug had a Zoe on it. Anecdotal, but there you go.

Quite true, the chargers to the south at Abingdon and Didcot were also in use but only 1 of the 4 bays of the Instavolt hub at Abingdon was in use.
So much depends on the time of day - this is a plot of CCS availability at one of my local shopping podpoints captured every 10 mins over 7 weeks.
I was just curious to see if there were any useful patterns.

I'd used a value of 2 for 'Available' (as opposed to charging or unavailable because ChaDemo was charging) - so 14 means available every week on that day at that time.
The only 'trends' I could see were less availability on Friday afternoons and Sunday with heaviest daily usage in the early evening.

(The Monday early morning usage is missing one week of sunday 1500 - Monday 0911 - because I'd have to wait until tomorrow am for a complete 7 week cycle.)

I tipped up at the Instavolt Hub at Corley Services Southbound at 12pm yesterday and was the only one charging.Guess it's just pot luck.
Also just anecdotal, but ~1.5-2 years ago when the 4 Instavolts went in at Booths they mostly sat empty, with the odd Tesla occasionally appearing. Now I routinely see 2 or 3 charging there.

Similar with the 7kW at Tesco, used to be that I'd be the only one there (and would take advantage of the low demand to go for a 2 hour walk), now when nipping in I'm often grabbing the last free one.

Glad we have a decent AC-enabled charging hub at Lancaster (though it must be frustrating for those who want more than 50kW) as I shudder at the thought of the MSAs now, queuing for ages to use a ropey old EH.

How do you tell from that map that they are in use?

Ta, I didn't know that.
Blue outline = in use
Can mean just one of several outlets are in use - click on the charging point symbol for more information.
