Hello fellow EV lovers,

I am the founder and creator of a new magazine called AutoVolt, which is dedicated to Electric and Hybrid vehicles.
The first issue was released on the 4th July and is available now on Magzter in digital format (in all the app stores) and in print via Magcloud too.

It would be great to hear your views and feedback on the magazine as of course influence and critique are what make things evolve to be better. The main aim is to bring awareness and interest to all and as AutoVolt is the only magazine dedicated to the subject of EVs and hybrids in the UK, it gives a better focal point to the subject. My aspiration is the magazine develops into a resource and authority in an otherwise petrol/diesel biased media.

Available on Magzter in digital here
Available on Magcloud in print here

I look forward to your comments and hope you enjoy the magazine!

Hi Chris, many thanks for your reply and enthusiasm!
I should add, the magazine is currently only available in digital format via Magzter and via print-on-demand at Magcloud. We would love for it to become a familiar sight on shop shelves but we have to start somewhere. Plus, keeping things digital (and print-on-demand) keeps us from using up lots of paper too!
All the best,
Jonathan

Looks good - well done ! I follow on twitter @AutoVoltMag

a couple a q's
  • Are you UK based ?
  • Is it UK focused ?
  • How detailed is it ? (eg industry or public focused ?) eg cf E&HVTI
finally ... If subscribed say on ipad version, can it still be read on another device (eg PC or android) ? or do they all need separate subscriptions ?

Hello Mark,

Many thanks for the compliment.

Yes, UK based - I live in [currently] sunny Hertfordshire and produce the magazine here. UK focus but with worldwide elements such as features and news. It is aimed at the general public and any person interested in both EVs and hybrids alike. The main aim and original idea of the magazine is to provide a more focussed mag on the subject of EVs and hybrids, whereas current motoring media only provides snippets rather than a broad category on the subject.

Only one subscription is needed. The subscription is handled by Magzter, so if you have installed their app or the AutoVolt app on a device and log in with your credentials, you can do the exact same on another device - using the same credentials. For example, I have a mobile phone and tablet and can have the magazine on both at the same time with one login. Likewise, if I forget either of them or don't have access to them, I can log in online at Magzters website and read the magazine on a computer/laptop too. Similarly if a device was lost or stolen, you still have access to the magazines using your login credentials. I won't bore you with the greatness of digital magazines, but they are a whole lot more flexible than paper!

All the best and thank you for your support.
Kind regards,
Jonathan

Just installed the Magzter app on my iPad, and in the settings I've selected the United Kingdom store. But it can't find Autovolt magazine when I search .....

Mark: Many thanks for the kind words, glad you like it!

Mike (hopbackguy): I may be mistaken, but it could simply be a synchronisation issue on your device. I would try searching for it again, simply by typing autovolt or even autov should bring it up. I have just tried this on my Android device and both those searches worked correctly. Failing that, you should be able to search for the magazine on Magzters website using a PC/Mac rather than on your tablet and then you should be able to login and ensure the magazine is in your account. Please let me know if you have any more trouble.

No... Have tried relaunching the app several times and waiting, still can't find it. There are loads of magazines it does find, but not Autovolt. Is it necessary to register first and login? It doesn't SAY that's necessary when presenting a catalog of magazines and allowing me to search them.....?

How did you read the mag @Mark Sanders ? On the web site or using the Magzter app? On ios or android?

I just clicked 'buy the subscription' says £16/pa but pay in USD > http://www.magzter.com/GB/AutoVolt-Ltd/AutoVolt-Magazine/Automotive/ as below
mag.JPG
asked me to register, email confirm, then clicked above link again ..
Entered CCard and bingo ..

I read it right on desktop, with browser, on Magzter page (Win 8) ... the mag opens in a separate window (without win8 app), also opens on ipad via app (not tried on android yet, but seems OK) ....

Nice article about Flybrid, formula-E and plenty other stuff for next couple of days. ... would have liked a bike more indepth tech detail about used prius tho' eg what exactly goes wrong ?, interview with mechanic/specialist etc. Upgrades, DIY plug in mods, battery swaps, etc. (wishfull / minor feedback :) ).

Mike: I'm very sorry to hear you're still having Magzter search problems. I've sent you a private message so that I may be able to offer more assistance if necessary.

Mark: Thank you for helping out Mike and for the constructive feedback which is exactly what I like to see and can therefore take it onboard for the next issue. Regarding the Prius, it was intended more as a quick guide after the main feature articles and effectively space was tight so it was kept brief and to the point. I am looking to expand this feature for the next car in the next issue though.

Don't forget, you can always send feedback using our email [email protected] which we're always happy to recieve. As a new magazine, we are able to adapt and alter various things if enough people ask us to include or change something, so sending thoughts/suggestions there means we can keep a tally more easily. Similarly, for the first issue we had to leave quite a few of our 'grand' ideas out, which we intend to introduce in future issues, so if we hear people asking for them then we will be able to implement them that much more quickly.

All the best,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, I've just subscribed too (mids from Blatters ;)) and it looks very good from a first glance with plenty of content. You sounds keen for feedback so I'll probably report back when I've finished reading it.

Hope the project is a success, with EV sales increasing as they are you should have a growing audience (just like this forum).

Hi Andy (mids), many thanks for the subscription - I hope you enjoy it! A slight bone of contention is Magzter are dragging their heels in getting the magazine into the Apple & Google stores amongst others, but these will arrive shortly.
Thank you for the words of encouragement though, I am sure it will be a success and readership figures already indicate that interest levels are rising.
Needless to say, the second issue should be even better!
Thanks.
