Having had a look through the owner’s manual for the iX3, I see that there is a battery charge setting of 80% for day-to-day charging, and a 100% for maximum range.

On further reading, it would seem that this setting is designed to limit 150kW charging to 80% and it sits alongside a ultra-rapid noise limiter (where noise limits apply).

I guess for an iX3 that would be about 2C charging which according to the graphs I have seen would definitely result in battery degradation if used frequently. For normal charging I have seen no evidence that 80% charging is in any way necessary.
