There is a huge difference in energy consumption (and therefore range) with speed. Your range when travelling no faster than 40 mph might be more than double the range at 70 mph, and the Guess-O-Meter doen't know what roads and speeds you will be driving on next. It just uses a sort of average over the last hour or two of driving time.
