I know this isn't a scientific and the "update process has only just started", nor is this a genuine "survey size" (and only the experience of afew ID4 First Edition owners) - but unless I've miss-understood - only one First Edition user has upgraded "seamlessly" (who's posted on here)?

May be time for a questionnaire for ID.4 owners and upgrade success?

a) my First Edition ID.4 Upgraded without any issues
b) my First Edition ID.4 Upgraded but with issues (that took more than one day)
c) my First Edition ID.4 has not updated and there are problems
d) I'm waiting for my First Edition ID.4 to be updated (it's booked in)
e) I'm not booking mine in yet, until I see how other people's upgrades go?

Errr - My 6 visits for warrantee works - I raised this - not even a response from VW HQ or the dealer when I queried my out of pocket losses !
That is really not on, especially as you have had so many loaners.

I know a few people who have had reimbursement from loan cars from other manufacturers (BMW & Jaguar).

when I have taken my i3 in for its services they have always given me a ICE, but I asked about this and they said they would be brimmed tank and if I need to top up it would be no issue, obviously I never needed to as they were horrible to drive after the EV so they were just local transport for a day for us.

Lookers of Guildford kindly did the 2.4 software update for me today. They wanted it in the night before so that the technician (who is an early riser) could start the update at 6:30am.
Thankfully it seems to have worked ok.
The system has now offered me a further new update over the air, but it seems to have got stuck about 2/3 of the way through.
It tells me that the update will pause if I leave the car … but run in the background when I’m in the car.
I thought that the idea of these updates was you could leave them running overnight when the car is empty?

I’m tempted to give it a go! If it’s finished on Monday I’ll have spent £31 more than I would have normally spent in electricity on petrol. Nuts. I am intending to offset the carbon however, because what’s the point in having an EV if you can’t save money and feel smug 😭

I got that one pop up today, same as yours, didn’t seem to progress beyond 2/3 of the way.

I wouldn’t sweat it though, it will sort itself out, and install when ready. It downloads when you’re using the car, and will install/update when you exit the vehicle.

- mine completed the update and it says 'changes will take effect after five minutes turning the vehicle' on or in that effect. no idea on the changes,, 😏

Perhaps on your side of the water. Not in the US. I have always been told to return it with the amount it had when I took it. The dealers aren't like a rental agency that always starts you with a full tank and ask you to return it full.
Yes, they did that when we had an ICE vehicle and they gave us a loan ICE car, but with the EV the cost difference in fuel (charged at home) is an issue, the customer should not be out of pocket because they couldn’t provide an equivalent loan vehicle.

Not all dealers are so accommodating as witnessed from above comments.

Mine was offering the OTA update as I was driving to the dealer but I didn't dare accept it. Not that it made any difference to them completing on time.

On the plus side they did give us a brand new top of the line Arteon Shooting Brake R as the courtesy car, and didn't try to pull the ol' "excess waiver" trick. Of course the kicker is that I cant enjoy it because I don't want to put any fuel in. We've done about 10 miles of essential travel in eco mode and it's now going to sit on the driveway until we get ours back.

Rang my dealer earlier today and booked mine in on 11th August for the battery replacement and software update. Have not bothered with a loan car as they will come and collect mine, then deliver it back when the work's done. Have been advised that it could be 2 days. Will advise on the outcome.

Yeah mine is apparently done, but I'm leaving the collection till a bit later so that they can do the complementary wash. Curious as to whether they've actually changed the battery or not, cos they've only ever mentioned the SW update.

Well mine has finished after six and a half days with the dealer (inc the weekend). They wouldn’t give any indication of what the issue was beyond saying the update software kept crashing and that it was pretty common.

The car is back to factory settings (no phone connections etc) - I really hope 3.0 is worth it!

Ive booked mine in to the garage in Camberly. They said they prefer to keep it in for 2 days as they upload regulary crashes. This means they are doing fewer than they would like and the process is taking much longer than it should!
On the plus side, I said they can collect and drop off, as that means I havent got to sit about at the dealership esp if it isnt ready! Also they said they will return it earlier if the upgade works without a problem.

Mine took a bit longer than expected, collected the following morning after an issue with the air con module updating.
My second key no longer works though and won't sync. Has anyone else had this problem?

Mine was collected this morning and I expect it back sometime tomorrow afternoon. I was specifically asked to provide both keys for the update.

My car was booked in for this morning with Inchscape Manchester (Trafford Park). Got a text at 7.45 asking me to call the dealer which I did and they told me the link to the VW servers was down so they could not do the update today and re-booked me in for mid September.

They also booked me in for a Monday saying they expected the job to be done by Tuesday as it was now always booked in as a two day job.

Just got mine back from having the battery replacement and software update. It went in on Thursday and was due back yesterday, but it took a lot longer than the scheduled time. However, I was kept well informed by the service department. After speaking to the head techie this morning, he told me that some cars sail through the update, but others do not. Anyway, all ready for v3 OTA in the coming weeks - hopefully.

As a matter of interest, did you chase them, or did they invite you? - Only, I'm also a Camberley customer and I've still not heard anything (having previously been told months ago that I'd be invited in due course).
