I see Grant Shapps has indicated that the budget planned for 11th March may be delayed to give the new Chancellor time to prepare for it. If the Government are thinking of scrapping the PICG at the budget his could be good news for those of us still waiting for our EV delivery date.

Need to start increasing the VAT on ICE cars as well. The nudge has to be in both directions, as per Norway, to gain real traction in EV take up.

A Diesel Golf should be more expensive to buy that an eGolf or a iD3.

Sometimes a bit awry comparing a diesel Golf to an e Golf bearing in mind spec and all that. But last November when we bought our e Golf, it was cheaper than a diesel Golf at list price after negotiations.

Hard to believe that there should be any need to delay the budget. It's only the 'figurehead' at head of team who is being replaced; everyone else will be staying put and you'd hope that this close to B-day all the planning has already been done.

Not at all. Boris and Dominic demanded that Javid replaced his whole team with their choice of advisers. Javid told B&D to stuff it and resigned.
So they will be changing the whole team.

Sure, but do the same "negotiations" on the diesel and I'm sure it would be cheaper.

A Kona can be had under 20k, whereas the EV can stretch up to 40k.

Indeed there are bargains to be had out there. My neighbour has just negotiated a deal on a new Skoda Superb 2.0 petrol, with 拢4k knocked off and still got a fair price for his 12 reg 44k mile Octavia VRS. Oh, and he got his wife a nice new Fabia Monte Carlo Estate while he was there.

If there is a delay it will not be for very long, if there are any tax changes that will need to be in place for the new financial year.

Possibly - but this close to B-day the chancellor and his 'advisers' should have finished their bits of the job and passed it on to civil servants (who won't of course be summarily dismissed) so that any budget changes can be implemented immediately after the speech.

Maybe they had, but clearly B&D didn't like what they saw. It will be changed and there was talk of pushing budget day back a bit to make time. This is Boris' first budget and he and Dominic are not going to push it out unless it's what they want.

You would think so but what actually happens is that the civil servants will be working on a whole series of proposed changes prior to budget day only around a third will be implemented. They won't be 100% sure which until budget day. Late amendments and new changes are often introduced to the process with only a few days to go.

I heard that the possible delay was to ensure that the mind control tech brought in by Dominic Cun.mings is 100% tested and working.

It turns out that Dominic wasn't able to manipulate Sunak's body and mind accurately enough purely by putting his hand up there. There was a risk of deviating from the tech babble nonsense Dominic loves so much. And Sunak kept saying 'levelling up' over and over.
