Check out from page 3-66 on deleting destinations. It's the 2011 sat-nav manual. Hope it helps.

I too have heard of the tree report at start-up but never experienced it personally. As a guess maybe there is an RSS feed for this active? You can view the feeds via the car but they may need to be accessed via your Carwings on-line account to remove or update?
