Good Morning,

We had a Pod Point Home charger (type 1 thethered) installed in 2014 for our Nisan leaf first Gen.

we sold the leaf in 2017 and the charge point hasn't been used since.

Now we are planning to come back to EV and have placed an order for The Mereceds EQA whch needs a type 2 cable.

I turned the pod point charger on just to see if it still functional- all the lights come on which I hope is good news.

I read in he forum somewhere that it's straight forward to change the type 1 cable to type 2. I asked a local electrician but he suggests the whole unit needs changing. I didn't want so spend on a new charger if it can be avoided.

here are some photos- i opened the front box just to take a look.

has anyone done it before please? does anyone know who can do this for me in South Wales Area?

many thanks
Darpan

Hi,
I have seen number of posts on here, with pictures, of a similar lead swap out.
Have a search.

Yes I've changed mine - straightforward. The cable is available soon the likes of EV Connectors.

Or you could get an adapter but changing the cable is the better solution

Finally my first post (long time lurker).

I just swapped out my own PodPoint Type 2 cable for a longer one just last week. Honestly the hardest part was getting the cover off (one of the screw heads was burred out and had to drill it).
You just unscrew the three power terminals, the CP and the big white cable clip. And loosen the stuffing gland at the bottom. New cable is just the reverse.

About to list my old cable in the "EV Charging Stations (EVSE) For Sale" forum.

But you probably want a new holster too to keep the water and gunk out.

Control pilot wire, its the thin one of the four in the cable.

Brilliant. thanks all. I will order a type 2 tethered cable and get a local electrician to swap it.
Looking at the photos please can anyone confirm it's a 32 A charger - as far as I remember it was but just want to make sure that I order the right cable

cheers
