All,

apologies for all the noob questions.
One of my mates has a Tesla and he will only charge to 80% to preserve battery health.

Should you only charge a Leaf (30KWh) to 80% as well or is 100% ok as it’s a smaller battery (or different headroom limits).

thanks in advance

Depends on your use. If you need a full charge everyday then you will have to charge to 100%. If not then 20-80% is the safe range keeping at 100% can cause degradation as can a low state of charge. When I need 100% I set the timer to end when I am leaving so it is not at 100% for long. 100% charge will limit the amount of regen braking.

Leaf 30 doesn't have an 80% option. That means you need to use start stop timer on your charger.

When I was using granny charger, I used smart plug to calculate approx 80% and charged in that manner.

Once we had dumb charger installed, this wasn't possible. That and our usage increased so if I'm charging I charge all the way.
