Thinking of buying a 2013 Smart ED with the optional 22Kw on-board charger. My question is, although Smart replace the standard 3.6kW single phase cable with a 3-phase 22kW one, is the higher spec cable backwards compatible with the slower charging speeds? Put another way, will a 22kW 3-phase Mode-3 Type-2 cable connect with a 3.6/7.2kW charging supply or do I need different cables for each speed? Thanks if you have any experience to help.

Thanks for the advice. I've now ordered the car with the 22kW charger which, I've subsequently found out, comes with a "chunky" 5m 3-phase curly type 2 M-F lead.
