Charging Problem with Rolec charger & Merc 350e

I recently have been having problems with charging my car - I have a Rolec type 2 unit with tethered cable and ECCV3221-17U plug.
I plug the charger in and sometimes it starts to charge and all is good and other times it cycles several times then starts charging and other time the charging indicator on the car goes red for error. I guess its a poor connection between plug and car and normally after moving the plug around and several attempts it works ok. The unit is just out of warranty I guess its one or more of the female contacts in the plug. It works ok when I plug in elsewhere hence why I think its the plug rather than the car. Any suggestions how I can test further or otherwise?

Thanks

If it’s connected to WiFi put it on charge and call Rolecs helpline, they should be able to see the fault.

Sorry its not connected to WiFi
Worth getting some switch cleaner aerosol such as this one:
WD-40 Specialist Contact Cleaner 400ml
and squirt it liberally on the piins on your plugs & sockets. Also check with a torch & maybe v careful use of cotton-bud that there's no dirt/corrosion building up inside, everything should look neat & tidy.

Maybe your plug on the cable is packing up; evbitz.uk supply all sorts of replacement parts, and a good sparky should be able to replace the plug, if that's looking knackered.
Thanks I'll try the contact cleaner but it all looks clean - dirt & corrosion free.
If you are confident that the two smaller connectors are clean and there's nothing stopping them going in fully, thenI I'dhave the plug to pieces (with the unit off at the mains of course) and check the integrity of the pilot cables. These are quite vulnerable.
