Plugged the Zoe in today, and it tripped the circuit breaker in the wall box. message on the dash said to check connections. Tried a couple of times but it kept tripping, so I tried the granny cable from the garage, same result, it tripped the circuit breaker in the garage. So looks like the problem is with the car. Anyone got any idea what this could be?
regards

Do you really mean circuit breaker or the RCD? Send photo of what tripped if you aren't sure.

in my experience - RCD trips with dampness or a leak from N or L to earth .... a MCB trips with a direct short or overload of amperage
Sure, but we don't really know what has tripped in this case - hopefully OP will clarify.

This is a Zoe though. It might just be the wrong time of the month.
French Electrics at its best I had a renault clio mk2 once where all the rear lights flashed like Christmas tree lights when i put the indicators on LOL - loads of electrical faults ... and then Renault decide to bring out an electric vehicle !

Bloomin cheek! I had no electric problems with my Alfa Breras or Guilietta. (except with the first Brera after the local garage owner used his gas torch to slacken a nut on the cat. He can't have used a heat shield and fried the wiring running along the inside of the transmission tunnel. Nothing worked properly after that.)
Water just caused corrosion due to the minimal paint on the underside and sub frames etc.

Yeah your not selling it to me, I once test drove an alfa.

The demonstrator had squeaky suspension, that told me all I needed to know! 😂

message on the dash said to check connections. ...
dont worry about that message , it may not be indicative to the problem or that your car has a problem - zoe's have a hissy fit if they start off charging and somehow the power gets cut along the way and throw up that message on the dash ... - you wait when you get the 'impossible to charge' message :)

My Brera coupes were the most enjoyable cars I've owned to date. The 3.2L quad cam 260bhp V6 sounded great, the all wheel drive was fantastic when the road was't bone dry and the looks weren't bad either. Hopefully the Leaf will be a revelation.

Thanks for the replies, I will post photos tomorrow of the units that have tripped while try to charge the Zoe. I will also take a hair dryer to the plug on the Zoe to make sure there is no dampness there.
