So I've been getting interested in Ampera. I've read the discussions here (especially the recent deals reported) and have checked out road tests, blogs and Autotrader.

About a week ago I entered an enquiry on Vauxhall's microsite. A few hours later someone from their contact centre called me.

I had a pleasant chat, explained that I owned an EV already and really wanted to explore availability, deals and finance. Her script offered me an appointment at the nearest Ampera dealership. As it's about 20 miles away I said that I'd prefer a conversation over the phone. She offered to get the Ampera specialist to call me in office hours. Since then nothing. Is this typical?

Pentagon regularly phoned to keep me up to date with progress. I've had no other Vauxhall dealer contact, although that will change with the first service.

Drive Vauxhall (Leicester) were hopeless about the first contact, if that's who it would be... I'd just find the nearest Ampera dealer on the website and call them :)

Ah, the legendary Vauxhall apathy strikes again...................

Or maybe it didn't, not sure really, maybe someone else can check and see if they can call you back, maybe?

maybe not, not sure. "What is an Ampera? Are you sure that's a Vauxhall sir?"

Sarcastic? Me?? :D

Seriously though, don't let it put you off a brilliant car

I get the drift...

It wouldn't be fair to name the dealer, but it's none of the above. :)

Makes you wonder though how many more people might have bought the car if the dealers showed more enthusiasm with enquiries.

I had a similar experience when I rang Vauxhall to enquire about the Ampera. I was put through to the call centre and they couldn't find an Ampera at any of the local garages to test drive so they said they would get someone from the Hull site to call me back - never happened. Ended up going to Sheffield to test drive and then my local dealer got one! Love the car but still relatively expensive second hand (in comparison to the Zoe).

Peugeot, citroen and mitsubishi in canterbury all had no information or electric demonstrator. Renault had a zoe for test drive but not too interested in selling one.
Asked for Nissan test drive on phone weeks ago and not heard anything
Whereas BMW have an i3 and i8 for demos and tell me they have sold more than 30 i3s which seems high.
