When the Kia dealer contacted us last week, they said the latest problem is that some of Kia’s harness makers are based in Ukraine.
I took our other car (a Skoda Karoq) for its 3-year service and MOT today. I asked one of the Skoda sales guys what their current leadtimes are like on the Enyaq, as this is the other EV which I had initially been considering before choising the e-niro. He said latest Enyaq lead times are 12-18 MONTHS!!!! He said Skoda also have problems due to harness makers in Ukraine.

This is my understanding too. I went to the Kia Electric Experience and was told that they are only open to retail orders right now and a batch will be shipped in July / August because there is nothing like a few models on the road that people can see to increase the interest in them and produce further orders. There is no point announcing a new model release unless some people can actually take delivery of one. I was told fleet orders start in June, so ordering now would mean a likely delivery lead time of 12 - 16 weeks. Ordering after June would add several months to the lead time.

I've experienced the long Skoda lead times. It wasn't an EV but in my experience and others on the Skoda forums, dealerships were ignoring customers because they had no information to give them, even after 6/8 months. Kia has been better in terms of keeping contact but in truth, every message or telephone call from the dealer results in another month added onto the 'anticipated' delivery date. It would be nice to know as the paying customer what I will get and when I will get it! I can't see 1st gen orders will be moved onto 2nd gen. There is a cost difference to start with, plus heat pumps are now an optional extra. No choice but to wait and see.

Like many of you here I ordered a E-Niro4+ through my lease provider. I ordered in January and was originally told to expect a delivery by end of March. That was pushed back to Mid June and last week the dealer called me to apologise but to keep the faith that it would happen later this year. They put me on a provisional date of mid September with no guarantees. To be honest I had no faith in the car ever turning up due to the release of the new version so as luck would have it my employers lease provider had the new version available. This is strange as I cannot find a price anywhere on the internet for lease from other providers but I put my order in today and cross my fingers I will see the car this side of August. That drop in BIK is definitely a must.
I'd be astonished if deliveries of current model 4+ are still arriving in September given that this ties in with expected delivery of the first batch of the new model. But stranger things have happened.
I am thinking that "this side of August" is optimistic for the new model but I'd be delighted if it did come that soon. I ordered last week and was told 12 - 16 weeks, which would be mid August to Mid Sept.

I called the dealer and as I have ordered the Model 3 (My budget wont reach to the 4 unfortunately especially as i wanted to add the heat pump) he said it is likely to arrive in July. I suppose i'll have to wait for confirmation of that but at least I know it WILL be built unlike the Gen1. Perhaps the absence of tech such as Harmen Kardon could be the difference. I know improved sound systems are a struggle for all manufacturers atm

Crept up to 10th June last week, now Select say Kia will no longer fulfill the order. I don't think I blame se!ect, but what sort of contract(s) exist in this supply world ? I wouldn't run a business based on them.

Your contract was with Select, unfortunately THEY have let you down .
That is a bad service from select, but it sounds like they are simply taking your order and selling it to someone else. In the current economy that would be at a substantial profit for them.
Chatting this morning while getting the order in for my new Niro EV, the salesman mentioned they recently had to make a lot of calls to tell people that their orders for the previous model were not going to be coming...
If anoyne is still waiting for one of the previous generation and the dealer is still claiming it is going to arrive later in the year I'd suggest asking some rather pointed questions, as if it isn't already on a ship I really don't think it is ever going to arrive...

Was chatting to my dealer tonight and he has a 2 & 3 confirmed for July. My 4 is his next Niro on his log list of Kia cars to get chassis numbers and a date. Not a problem for me as I have a lease until end of year so he says he can push it out once he gets a date.

Can I ask who your company's lease provider is? I've been trying to order a new Niro-EV 3 on business lease through so many places. Inially told to wait for the launch early may, then told busines lease won't open till June 1st, and then told this is being delayed as they can't keep up with retail/personal customer orders. And the lead times will only be growing!

That matches what I was hearing from my dealer, they were waiting for fleet sales to open June 1st as that was also when the 'Costco Auto' programme prices tend to be released, but when I was there getting my order in, it was mentioned that the fleet sales had been pushed back...

I was told by the dealer who is supplying my e-niro 4+ that the new niro EV is not yet available to order for fleet buyers, only private individuals
