From 1 April 2025, all electric car owners will be required to pay the standard rate of road tax VED, which is currently £165 per year. EV drivers who own a car with a list price of £40,000 or more will also pay the £355 premium car tax rate, which will take their yearly VED rate to £520.
The new electric car road tax rate will apply to cars first registered on 1 April 2017, which means it'll be backdated to include millions of used EVs in the UK.

Direct quote from an article in Hey Car from the 17/11
If you car was over 40k and is less than 5 years old you your car will be liable for the premium tax, just because you bought it before 2025 you are not exempt, same as an electric car under 40k isn't exempt.

That would match with what I was told, arrived on 22/11 and available for pick up middle of December, dealer had a few cars available, all specs and a few colour combos. Said they were getting a lot more than they expected

Like I said the dealer was surprised but as you can imagine happy to be getting more than they initially though, he even had a list of vin numbers, specs and colours

The MG4 came out 10k cheaper?
Not for the trophy it's £32k, it also comes with an oil leak, I'll fitting undertray/ muck catcher a dangerous LKA described by head of innovation at the Chorley group as trying to kill you , software full of issues and tendancy to lock it's occupants within, with no way of getting out.
But it is a bargain

I hope the dealer is correct with his delivery date, I got in touch last week for the first time, as I saw an online advert, he told me he could get me a car in a month so I ordered it. He had a few equilibres, technos and a couple of LE's (several colours). He also gave me a £600 dealer deposit contribution, which obviously went a bit of a way in cancelling our the recent price rise.
Paid my deposit and got a vin number there and then, stuck it in the app and it shows the car, happy days, hopefully.

As said due to pick my car up on Sunday, but east of Scotland is apparently due a big dump of snow again, fingers crossed I can still get it as dealer is 80 miles away.
Phoned round local ones when I cancelled my MG 4 order at the end of November and they were all next year.
Aberdeen had a fair bit of stock hence the distance.

Picked up my car today, really enjoyed the drive back, 90 miles down the east coast from Aberdeen. Drive mostly dual carriageway with a stop off in Dundee.
All good so far, has an alarm and mats although there was a job sheet showing the alarm fitted at the dealers ( not sure if that is normal practice)

Got 2.9 on a 90 mile run, mix of dual carriageway, city roads and then A roads.
Never went above 70, was a crap day minus Temps, sleet, so heating on, lights, wipers, radio on, wife put her heated seat on for a while. Quite happy with that, for the amount of electrical stuff that was on.

EV database states the below figures

City - Cold Weather *210 mi
Highway - Cold Weather *155 mi
Combined - Cold Weather *180 mi

City - Mild Weather *320 mi
Highway - Mild Weather *200 mi
Combined - Mild Weather *250

I agree with what your saying, I know I only have a techno, so wasn't expecting anything I didn't get but I'm really enjoying my car.
I had an MG4 on order and cancelled, you want to know issues go onto the MGEV forum and into the MG4 section and see what they are putting up with, what's worse is the atrocious attitude of mguk and some dealers
They have oil leaks, I'll fitting trim, random power loss, damaged tyres, shambles of an infotainment system, lane assist program that a dealer has described makes the car behave like "Christine"
Owners only getting 2 miles per kw.
The worst one a car that is deadlocking itself and sounding the alarm with occupants within. The only way out is to drop the back seats and activate the emergency boot release. Nothing else works! And there have been several reports of this

Absolutely with regards to techno loving it, probably poorly worded in relation to commenting on the launch edition has and has nots

Definitely pleased with my decision, to be fair the MG4 should be a great deal for the money but there was just too many issues for me

It's been said before, every new car will have its issues. First buyers tend to be the Guinea Pigs for the manufacturers.

Ironing out issues. I really like this car, it certainly has the looks, based on comments offered by other family and friends.

The size for us is perfect, the kit is pretty good and I'll be even happier once my dealer sorts the App connectivity issues.

The driving experience is terrific, I've already forgotten what my Q4 was like.

I topped up on a Lidl 22kW charger yesterday, in the absence of app info, it looked to have took pretty much 22kW for the duration of the charging session.

One thing to look out for, as I never noticed it when I first charged up at home. This morning I saw the charging port flap wasn't closed. It took several attempts for me to close it properly. I don't know if this is a fault or operator error. Just keep an eye on it.

My son is keeping an eye out for the Alpine version.
What app issues are you having? Im all connected in terms of maintenance and warranty etc, can't access charging or preheating the car etc. I was thinking it was something I'd missed, been really busy over Christmas so was going to look at it again tomorrow. Is that the issue you are having or have I missed something when I connected it

finally :) getting the key Saturday :)
Enjoy! had my car a week now and loving it, had a wee issue with getting full functionality on the app, couple of days after synching everything, I got a notification saying it was fully linked. No issues since. Glad I just left it in the end and didn't mess with it too much
Getting just over 3 miles per kw (3.3 to be exact) and I'm driving it normally, not like a "sissy" just for your info Gaz!

Just driving in eco, no preheating, just driving to speed limits. Mixed roads 60, 40, 30 mph full regen.
On a dual carriageway today switched from Eco to sport what a difference in throttle feel, wasn't paying attention and was a good bit over the national speed limit in no time
