I watched a few YouTube review’s about the Renault Megane E-Tech and downloaded the Brochure. It didn’t take me long to decide I wanted one… I rang my local dealer last week and was told they had some coming in, mid to end of December. I asked about the Launch Edition and was advised there would be some of them. I have ordered a Launch Edition in Shadow Grey/Black roof. I am advised I should get it 3rd week of December… I have had several electric cars. The Megane E-Tech ticks all the boxes for me…
That's interesting, same sort of time frame as those fulfilling priority list orders, am feeling more confiden of actually getting a car in December now!

My dealer said 'no confirmed date but showing as arriving with us (deaership) 2nd week of December'.
(For some reason the renault tracker page (french or german) doesnt load for me any more - I was hoping to see 4th green tick today!)

Got an email from Renault this morning. I went outside but couldn't get a sniff of a new car...
Font Rectangle Parallel Paper Document

So I contacted Renault & they were very good, used the VIN to locate the car, it is at the import center 'awaiting quality checks and fitting a towbar' and due at the dealers on 16/12. That is 2 days before the MoT on my ancient wreck expires.... <g>

Must confesss I've never bought a new car before. How do people pay? By bank transfer? If so, at what point? ( With bank transfers I always like to do a transfer of just £1 first to any new account, so that I can check I have the correct bank details!)
Great that you are getting your car pierpoint. No definite word from my dealer yet, Renault saying 21st Dec.

I'm happy with the reg number for the car though - it has the initials of my missus!!

Warn the bank first or they may auto-decline a large payment and block your card.

I was sent bank details in an email to pay into once they have the car and I have a collection date.
Thanks, good idea! I'm on hold now to 1st Direct to alert them. But - I have been on hold for 20 mins so far. What a shock! I always used to get through to them in a few rings, a minute at most. They seem just like any other bank now.

Many dealers (us included) are bank transfer only, one would assume that your dealer would have kept you in the loop ref payment and how they would like it.
Thanks. Yep they have been a bit slow really. I got an email replying to my payment query just now, and they are happy with bank transfer or cheque. So I will pay by cheque as it means I don't have to check the accuracy of any bank transfer I set up!

So my conclusion is that every bank and every dealership want something different so one has to avail oneself of all their requirements well in advance or prepare to get stressed.
Thanks Gaz. The dealer has said they don't want paying till I am happy with the car, and they will take a cheque, so hopefully should be smooth. Pleased I looked into it first though!

Renault UK just phoned me. Car now expected to be at dealers on 23 December instead of 20 December. He said he was 'confident' of that date. The delare needs to do an autoglym so no way I will get it before Christmas. Fortunately my old wreck got through its MoT without having to spend too much (a miracle) so iot doesn't really matter to me. And as someone else said, weather not great for the forseeable anyway.

Incidentally, although my dealer said maintenance plan was a single up front payment, Renault guy seemed to think that a new alternative, a paid-monthly plan, was now available. No idea if that is right or not!

I was offered the Service Plan, a figure was quoted and I challenged it, I had been quoted for an ICE vehicle, they came back to me and it was less than £5 a month. I took it. Also opted for wheel and tyre insurance, I've never done this before, but my wife will be driving this a lot and she has a wheel curbing history. 20" tyres don't come cheap do they.
Were you buying with finance? I saw those sort of figures if you were buying with Renault finance, but it is a lot more expensive (£15 a month) if you buy with cash.

Should I be surprised, no call returned today.

I was instructed by my Insurance company to tell them the moment I sold my previous car, as there was going to be a gap (which seems to be growing by the day), essentially, to ensure I would not be responsible if someone else had a traffic incident in a car I was insured for. I get that. The catch 22 scenario is if I don't take delivery of the car by the 22nd. My insurance will be terminated. I still don't know the impact on my NCB and renewal process, if the car gets delivered after that.
NCB is usually OK for a gap of up to 2 years. It varies by insurer, but I'd be surprised if any would lapse it in less than a month.
