Delivery Forecasts.

16963 Views 474 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  EVonOrder
My scheduled delivery/collection day is 15 December. Dealer confirmed today that is still the case as their system hasn't been updated.

However, because of transporter/driver shortages they are now able to pick up the car from the docks themselves, circumventing additional delays.

Anyone else had their delivery updated or given a firm date yet?

I looked at the front number plate set up. I agree that it is lower than perhaps it could be as it does cover the F1 Blade, but if it hadn't been mentioned on here, I doubt that I would have noticed it. When you've had an Alfa with a side mounted front plate, this Renault seems normal.

So Jan 1st.

No car for me yet.

Dealer seems to have lots of trouble responding to any queries, but no problems getting me to send rest if my deposit, sign approval for registration and starting off my finance.

Would have no bother if dealer had done that and I was picking up on the bank holiday, but they've not even confirmed an actual date at this point.

Contemplating unwinding the deal with this dealer and just asking Arnold Shark to get me a cancellation at this point. Genuinely don't think this dealer has done anything to deserve my custom.
odd.

My car is sitting at the dealer ready to go, but we had agreed to register and pick up car in January when I agreed to go ahead with order (priority list)

Car being bought outright as I had secured a loan just prior to the B.o.E rate going up several times in a row.

Dealer not only have not given much of an update, but also haven't asked for a single dime or sign a formal contract.

As soon as a car is registered, the dealer pays for it, so in 16v's case, signing the finance docs and paying the remaining deposit, gets the car paid for.

Yep, and according to dvla site, mine was registered on the 30th..
I think humphreythepug sums it up well. Our understanding of how dealers operate is probably wrong or poor. They certainly want everything sorted before collection.

This car was my first experience of essentially an "on-line" purchase. Apart from the odd phone call and e-mail (mainly to sort out a loan car - my dealer was excellent in this respect), everything happened through my mobile phone!!

At my collection, I just had to punch a couple of codes to texts, to get my invoice and confirmation I had declined certain options, GAP etc.
My dealer isn't open on a Sunday, and no doubt no dealers aren't open today.

What about tomorrow, are they closed then as well?

Mine is open tomorrow, think their Facebook page said sales is 10-170 no service staff in.

My wife also works in the motor trade and her dealership is fully open (sales + service) but on Sunday hours.

So your mileage may vary.

16v's situation is poor, doesn't know when he's collecting the car but has paid for it and the finance agreement is running, there is no excuse for the way it seems to have been handled.

However in normal operation then yes, we and all other dealers, like everything in place prior to collection, it makes sense and makes the whole process for both dealer and customer run smoother with less scope for any problems on the day of collection.

Say for example you go to collect your car and you are signing the finance documents at the same time, what happens if a) the systems are down, the documents can't be accessed so therefore cannot be signed, which means you can't take the car, or b) what if they are signed and submitted but have to go for a manual check prior to payout, this can take a few hours dependant on how busy the payout team are, does the dealer just assume everything will be fine, or do they wait?

The same with a bank transfer at the time of collection, what if your banking app is down, or the bank runs a fraud check, or just puts a stop to the payment for some reason, you the customer then has to spend ages on the phone sorting it out, sat at the dealership, taking up both your time and the salesmans time.

It just makes sense from an organisational side to have as much in place as possible.

That is interesting. I would have thought my dealer would be keen to sort things out in that case, since the car was registered on 3rd December (and I still don't have the car, nor a firm date).
I had to laugh, I got an email from the dealer today (automated type thing) saying welcome to your car, thanks for buying from us, blah blah... Sheesh.
Another day without contact from the dealer.

Emailed the dealer chain customer services, as they are not forthcoming with any dealer/gm contact details.

Thank you for your email, we are working hard at this time to respond as quickly as possible. However, this may take up to 28 days as per the Financial Ombudsman service standards. We will do our utmost to get back to you sooner.
Helpful.

only got that email after taking delivery...
I and no doubt others had similar e-mails. your car can't be that far away.
Surprisingly I have received a response to my email from their brand manager this morning, and a missdd call from their sales controller.

Miracles never cease.

Well, about that. Dealer doesn't have my car yet.

The car that was registered 30/12 and has finance running dated from 20/12.

Honestly this has been - hands down - the worst car buying experience I've had. And I've had some corkers over the years.

I've told the brand manager I'll call him back this afternoon, but after he's provided info that they knew the car wouldn't be arriving in Dec, but still registered it without updating em on that information makes me apoplectic.

I'm not even sure what's reasonable to ask for given the situation. Not even sure it should be reasonable as this is a thoroughly unreasonable situation.

Totally agree with you, they have just boosted their end of year sales figures without any thought about discussing it with you first.
The motor trade at the moment is so tilted in favour of the sellers, demand is outstripping supply and the dealers know this and customers have suffered as they are not really having to work that hard to sell the new cars they have.

Was in a discussion with an MG4 owner this morning, dealer phoned him and TOLD him they were registering his car before the end of the year (he didn't have it yet), if he wasn't happy and wanted it reg in 2023 that was fine he wouldn't get that car they would give it to the next person on the list! And he could go back to waiting.
Saddo's on the book of faces now coming up with the idea of having the gold blade wrapped so people dont look at them.
Clearly I suggested it first but also included the bit at the rear. Plus, was half joking.
I hope they go to some dodgy backstreet establishment that just gets a brush out and hammerites the bugger.

😢

I'm learning to love mine. Gold against the Black seems OK to me.
