Not to knock Optare's work, because these buses clearly have their place, but they are way behind the electric buses that have been used in Italy for 10 years and which feature 120kW inductive charging that tops them up at bus stops.

I imagine that by being able to top up en-route rather than have to use 2 CHAdeMOs for 2 hours to fill up, the battery will be considerably smaller and hence the bus cheaper.
