Electric power in cold weather

Hi guys,

Just wanted to check something quickly, Having bought my 330e only a month or so ago im learning the ropes.

Tonight on my way to work the temperature was approximately -3 degrees and the car would not select battery power on MaxE Drive saying that power requirements are too great or something similar.

Is this normal for this car under these conditions?

On my journey the car did move into Electric mode then intermittently interchanged between ICE and Battery for the entire 14 mile journey.

I assume this is normal but just wanted to check.

Many Thanks.

Yes it’s normal. In cold weather the car greatly limits battery output and regen capability until the battery has been heated up.
if you have scheduled pre-heating configured, in this weather it starts heating the car and battery about 30-40 mins before departure.
