Dear PiM Member,

As a Plugged-in Midlands card holder, we are writing to you to inform you of a change that may affect some of the PiM charge points in the Midlands region over the coming months.

Some charge point operators are choosing to change their provider to a system operated by Charge Your Car (www.chargeyourcar.org.uk). Charge Your Car, or CYC for short, is a national network with approximately 1,500 free-to-use or pay-to-use charge points already connected across the UK. The CYC system allows the charge point operator the option to bill for the use of the charge point on a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) basis, at their discretion, so you may find that some charge points that had previously been free-to-use now require payment.

You will know if a charge point has transferred to the CYC system from the sticker placed on the charge point (which will clearly indicate CYC) or by checking the CYC charge point map.

If you wish to access a charge point that is on the CYC system there are two main options:

1.Purchase a CYC RFID Card for £10+VAT

If you would like a CYC card, you can buy one from www.chargeyourcar.org.uk. The cards cost £10+VAT each, and are valid for the lifetime of the card. The cards will provide access to all charge points on the CYC network, not just those in the Midlands region, and also manage billing arrangements where payment is required. The CYC telephone helpline provides support and advice when at a CYC post.

A full map of the current CYC charge points can be seen here:http://chargeyourcar.org.uk/#map.

2.Call the helpline to access any CYC charge point

If you don’t have a CYC card, you can phone the number on the CYC sticker on the charge point, and quote the charge point location number to access the unit. You may need to provide credit card details to pay for the charge, but full support will be offered by the staff on the helpline.

Access (and payment where necessary) can also be achieved via the free smartphone app which can be downloaded from the iTunes and Google Play stores.

Plugged-in Midlands has always encouraged choice within the EV market, and this new provider, sitting alongside the existing provider operated by POD Point, offers an alternative for charge point providers and hence the EV motorist. At the moment it is not clear how many charge points will adopt the CYC system, but we will continue to provide updates through the usual channels. Please regularly check the Cenex PiM website (www.cenex.co.uk/pim) and the PiM Newsletter for new information relating to both charge point management systems.

We hope this information is helpful, and you can rest assured that we will work hard to minimise any disruption.

Kind regards,

The Cenex PiM Team
