Hi
Model S newbie. Actually I'm just borrowing one for the week.
I'm looking at leaving it charging on a standard type2 charger, using the cable supplied.

I assume that the car locks onto the cable when it's charging ?

If it finishes charging, does the car still lock the cable or release it ?

I'm not sure on how long it will take, or if I'm delayed, and worried that someone may be able to nick my cable if it's completed the charge ?

Thanks! Oh, and the car is amazing, just a little too big!

It remains locked. You need to double-click with the keyfob to release it (or from the screen inside).

If it's a (rare) cable with a release button, the car needs to be unlocked (in the sense of the doors unlocked) for the cable release button to work.

If it's a cable with a release button it does interrupt the charge for a short while though. I found that out when my car was parked next to a nearly identical Model S at a Supercharger and the owner came back and tried to disconnect my car twice before the penny dropped. I was having breakfast and could just about see the Supercharger through the window so looked over when the app notified me that charging had been interrupted :)
