When checking DTCs in LeafSpy, I have just seen a new code: P31B8 0008 EV/HEV CAN Error EVC-287. This one is new, I have not seen it before.

According to the 2016 Nissan Leaf Service Manual, either TCU or VCM should be replaced if the error persists (turn the car off, wait > 90 seconds without opening doors etc., turn it back on and re-read DTCs). In my case, it does persist, I have confirmed that several times. However, everything including the TCU (Nissan Connect EV) works fine, so I cannot really complain to my Nissan dealer. The 12V battery voltage is ok, too.

What do you think, should I be worried?

Note: I do have a weird high-voltage battery balancing issue (Permanent 40 - 60 mV cell diff in LeafSpy), but that is clearly unrelated.

Hi

Getting same code but with total lock up of the car. Did anything ever come from your experience?

Thx

My Leaf has never locked up like yours, so I do not know, but I do not think the error meant anything because, in my case, it did not re-appear after it had been cleared by one dealer (long time ago, if I remember correctly). Or perhaps it did, I am not really sure - I have not been using LeafSpy very often these days, but again, I do not think it is related to anything, unless LeafSpy also reports some of the other errors we can see on your screenshot in your own thread.

Anyway, good luck diagnosing your intermittent issue. If you can’t reproduce it in front of your dealer, I can imagine it might be difficult to have it fixed.
