After 1 month of very happy Leaf ownership (2015 24kw 15k miles) decided on a trip to Edinburgh approx 200 ml round trip. Was a doddle - full charge from home then rapid at Jedburgh. Interesting going over Carter Bar, 0-400m climb, 20 miles range left at the top, 30 miles left at Jedburgh! Then on to Edinburgh and a rapid charge, home with a brief rapid at Coldstream & 30 miles remaining at home! Bonus that the charges over the border were free! Interesting that we've now done over 1000 miles in the last month in our 'second car', may need to review that description!

Long distance trips are easy with planning. We have done Stirling to Newcastle easily. We are on our second EV now and that is why our pcp deal is for 15000 miles a year. Our 'second' diesel car is only doing a few thousand miles a year now. Need it to tow or caravan until I can afford a Tesla model X for that purpose.

That's interesting, our other car is a citroen diesel & kept for the same reason. Planning to have our boat on Loch lomond next year so Stirling would be one of the two rapids needed to get to Balmaha. Agree with you on the ease of long distances, with planning and time to charge

There are currently two charge your car rapids in Stirling (three if you count the Ecotricity one at Stirling services at £3 plus usage). One near the city centre and one at the Castle Park and Ride which would be better if going on to Balmaha. There is also one in Alloa and two in Falkirk depending which route you come up. The rapid at the Kelpies in Falkirk is a good stop if you want a nice walk.

There is also a destination charge point in Balmaha and another rapid close by in Balloch. Central Scotland is well served with rapid chargers.

Just finished a week long holiday in Scotland near Loch Tay. Did over 1000 miles including commute from Newcastle there and back. Was at Carter Bar yesterday in opposite direction! :)
Scotland is brilliant served and we only had a problem at Creif, well 2 problems actually. Rapid and both fast posts in use, a Tesla seems to hog the rapid from what I have read and was there when we were there. Then the scraping noise after a trip to Drummond Gardens as we drove along....turned out to a stone on the brake disc and Straeshearn Tyres were fantastic, called in on spec...not phased by it being an EV and removed the stone no charge. Back to silent running....

We will be back. Great place to visit and very very EV friendly.

Did my first 'white knuckle' journey yesterday, 105 miles round trip, 52 miles at 70mph and 53 miles at 50mph. Had to motorway rush to pick up an Ebay charge point, and dawdled back to a free rapid charger. Total cost about 50p for the journey.:)

Thanks, that's really interesting, particularly the one at The Kelpies which doesn't appear on Zap-Map
