Hi,

Is it possible to fit a 7 Pin Socket for a lighting board. Im considering getting a Rear mounted Bike Rack, but it looks like the Number Plate and lights will be at least partially obscured.

IF so, would you recommend BMW fit, or an Auto Electrician, or do you think a Home DIY job? (Id normally go the latter, but bit concerned this car is a bit more complicated than my last one!!)

I think you probably ought to talk to BWM first simply because of warranty issues. It shouldn’t be impossible, I think the car lights and accessories are still primarily 12 volt systems, but systems that detect things like bulb failures etc can sometimes generate odd error warning results if the load on a circuit is not standard.

If the brake/side light clusters and indicators are still reasonably visible, you could consider just an auxiliary number plate on a short board with its own light. These could even be led lights just fed from a dry cell battery.
