Hi. Just got a one owner S 75 and about to get my drive way wired up for it. A bit baffled by the differences between 2 and 3 gen wall chargers. One you tube video says gen 2 charges at higher amps and that older S cars can do that. (so ... wouldn't i want a gen 2 in this case?) another you tube video says gen 3 charges at 48 ams, (lower than gen 2 80amps) and that's better for the batteries.

So basically i am confused if you couldn't tell :) and concluding that i shouldnt watch youtube, i should ask real model S owners. so ... hello, my name is tom, and i need help picking which charger to get for my model s 75. thank you.

It won’t make a difference to your batteries.

In the UK most people have a 32 Amp charger (single phase) which is more than adequate.

I charge at 20 Amps which is fine for me.

So if you have an 80 Amp supply and you can get the older charger, then why not. But either should be fine.
