How did you manage to renew before the end of your term?

This seems to be very inconsistent of them.

I am soon at the end of my current fixed price.

Last month I wrote and asked what would be happening, they said 'we'll tell you towards the end of the month'.

I called at the end of the month (no such information) and they said 'Oh, well, yes, it'll go up but it is a variable smart tariff so we can't say what to' and so I said 'what if it was today' and they said '20-something p/kWh', to which I was glum. No offer to fix there and then, I did ask.

Got an email today saying my tariff would 'roll over to standard variable tariff'.

So I 'phoned up and they said 'oh, your current tariff will roll over, no change, because you have been on smart tariffs since Jan 19, and this will be fixed to 2023'.

... so for me, 4.5p/kWh from 8:30+3hr and my current 13.8p/kWh day.

:oops::unsure:(y):D

Phhffffffttt ... frankly, come the date of my actual contract renewal, I am expecting 'anything' could happen!! I'm struggling to follow all of that, but I'll roll with it because it is, after all, a 'beta product' and I take it as such.

Octopus ... give me those rates and I'll for sure keep plugging those recommendations for you!!! I mean, what can I say, I am at the mercy of a kind and generous beneficent energy company, it seems?

my term was due to end on feb 2022 and go into the 20 something pence during the day, after a couple emails, i manage to "renew it" to the tariff i had ( december 2019 octopus go faster 5h 2030) from jan 2022 to jan 2023
Who did you send email to and more important are they still working there, people have been having their GO/GOFASTER renewed and reporting an increase, as a matter of interest what was your Tariff before, was it from FEB 2021

When I go into the app, it confirms I'm on GO (16.92p and 5p)
But nothing about a start date/end date.
I'm not overly concerned as it must be at least Aug/Sept, just pointing out it doesn't say.
The end date is on the invoices - right hand panel.

In your ACCOUNT at the very bottom is a BUTTON "Take me back to the old dashboard (for now)" and the EXPIRY date for your Tariff is printed there

good luck to you guys............but I don't know how you get these rates?? I'm waiting for my new EV and an an Octopus customer. The rates I am being offered are 7.5p and 30.77p with 24.86 standing charge.
That's the new rate and I'd sign up asap because after April, they are bound to increase further.

Yeah. we're all existing customers fretting about our deals rolling over. It seems Octopus have a bug on Go Faster which means we're rolling over on unchanged terms (at least some folks have reported that).

If there’s one thing Octopus are good at, it’s inconsistency. They do very little to inform or constrain their staff because apparently they like them to have the freedom to resolve problems. From this forum and Octopus’s own forum, I can see that their approach causes way more problems than it allows them to solve.

When mine comes up for renewal in March, I’ll just keep ringing and mysteriously getting cut off until I find someone who gives me the answer I want.
