I went to the test session yesterday, quite enjoyed it. 20 cars out on track, plenty of laps being run and lots of well known drivers pushing hard. The acceleration was a bit slower than I expected but I liked how you could hear everything from the locking up to the rumble-strips being hit etc.

I'm not sure who the commentator was but he did quite a good job of explaining the technical details and how the race series is going to develop with it being turned into a more open format from next season with teams being allowed to develop their own powertrains (although that sounds amazingly expensive for such a new series). He also talked about the advantages of EV's which was good to hear.

I only saw one other EV, a zoe parked at the Formula-E HQ. Three of the four EV slots were free so I parked alongside. It's a shame that the posts aren't working yet but they looked finished so it's probably not long before they get turned on.

Thanks Paul although I made a right hash of most of them. I enjoyed the challenge actually and it's got me thinking maybe I should do a bit more motorsports photography as a hobby.

The most valuable lesson I learned from pros when it comes to photography is you can never take too many shots. I've had the privilege of sitting with and chatting to car photographers (most of whom are lovely people who are also slightly unhinged... in a good way) and you'd be amazed how many duff shots it takes to get that one good one.

My "proper" camera is dead at the moment so I'm puzzling over what to do next, love taking photos and been lucky enough to have some picked up by Getty and sold in the past... just keep taking photos and trying to develop a "style" of your own too always helps.

For me, this guy's shots are just stunning, I can get lost in them for ages on end:

Bit off topic, but perhaps a worthy little diversion...

Oh yes, dirty horrible smelly old cars. *cough*.
