Just read on Jonny's twitter that he and Ink Sharkman? have left Fully Charged. It's made an already cloudy day gloomier for me.

I really liked the Jonny + Robert combo on FC and Ink was obviously very talented.

The silver cloud is that they are working together on Jonny's YT channel. While this is good, it doesn't quite compare to them all working on FC, for me.

Yeah I was disappointed as I like his FC vids the most. Good to see he's doing his own thing so we can still watch him. I hope this wasn't an acrimonious split. I'm guessing FC was getting so big it was becoming full time and bills need paid.

Not going to lie. I found that Jonny was far too positive about about cars. Just felt like they trying not to upset the OEMs even with obvious things. Like the non powered seats in the DS. For that price of car it should be a given. Not even a real mention. I did like his banter though, just didn't feel as impartial as it once was.

It's a shame but Jonny Smith putting out EV stuff on his own channel (with similar prodution values to the FC videos) is all good for me.

I suspect that as FC's focus has widened to all kinds of green / renewable tech, and new EV launches go from a trickle to a flood they need to decide what to prioritise. Doing car reviews means a fair chunk of time/money to cover them, and doing that alongside lots of other car media that all have their videos ready to go when the embargo lifts. FC had car videos they'd sit on for months because there was other stuff they'd want to get out first, and while Robert Llewellyn was a great early EV advocate he just doesn't seem that interested in the detail of cars like Jonny is.

Both side by side will be great.

Maybe it was Robert forcing Johnny to be overly positive?
We shall see

So Robert want's to hire some new 'talent' for car reviews. Perhaps Bjorn Nyland could be a candidate?

I still like Robert best. Jonny was engaging but never came across to me as an EV native (neither does Maddie for that matter, but her videos genuinely strike me as effective in introducing EVs to complete novices).

However I do think they have overdone it on the production values. Now we have specially composed music, pornographic detail close-up, fanboy pans across car logos. It works against objectivity and merely panders to manufacturers' myth-making. If I wanted all that I'd watch TopGear..!

Johnny drives an EV and made possibly the world's first EV drag car. How much more more native would you like. I see FC is now 2 companies too. I do wonder what the patrion subscribers think about this.
