Has anyone here removed the plastic surround around the gearknob?
The standard one in my Acenta is a very boring plastic finish, so I've ordered another one from a breaker and I intend to get it dipped in a gloss carbon fibre finish.
However, I'm really not sure how the piece comes out.
I found a video for the 24/30 and in that version it's simply clipped on and lifts off with a good pull.
Common sense says it's the same in the 40/62, but it's still a scary thought to haul away at it blindly!
Hopefully someone has removed theirs for a liquid spill or something.
(I tried asking the breaker I bought it from, but they're not responding)

When I removed it I just hooked my fingers under the front or back edge & wiggled/pulled it upwards, seemed to release fairly easily on mine, I took mine out so I could thread an extra charge lead through from the back usb ports & come out in the little cubby hole in front of the drive selector..

Took a brave pill on Saturday, hooked my fingers up under the rear edge of the panel and pulled up.
Hey presto, off it came nice and easy.
If I'm getting that piece carbon dipped I'm tempted to do the piece of dash trim just above the glove box too.
Now to figure out how that comes off.....
