While Vauxhall couldn't commit on the "end of the Ampera" news recently reported, but Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann has now reassured the EV world that Opel consider the electric vehicle market as "important" and they will have a successor to the Ampera when current stocks run out.

Much much better news than the previous "rumours". I like the phrase a successor product. I wonder if GM Europe has been working on it's own electric vehicle??

Hmm, I read that as "we will be announcing 27 new vehicles over the 2014-2018 period and one of those will be either a hybrid or BEV"
Yep I think you nailed it. Maybe the Chevy Spark will come over here instead? Certainly it sounds like "an e-car" is one of their models, rather than adding e into their whole range. Shame.

That may be...but in 2 years? What's more important is GM's commitment to EVs and by extrapolation, it's network of electric certified service offering.

Just read a blog commenting on the speculation. Would be such a shame if they dropped it, but even worse if they didn't replace it with something better.

Decided to tweet @Vauxhall and yes, one tweet won't do anything but if everyone showed support for the Ampera it MAY have an impact on the powers that be. The vast majority of people I speak to about it are interested and most are pleasantly surprised.

Get tweeting etc Ampera-ites!

I would have another Ampera without hesitation, my hope for the next generation is one with a minimum range of around 60 miles on my type of motoring so that I can cover my commute on electricity only. All other niggles shortcomings are not serious enough for me not to have another one of this generation.

I'd have another car but I worry about Vauxhall's commitment.

I also think the next Opel/Vauxhall PHEV will have LESS range based on their previous comments.
That's ok, so long as it has a MUCH lower price!
